I chuckled then stopped as I caught sight of Belle’s angry expression.
“And I do see the man-hate clearly,” Justice added.
“Man-hate?” Belle snapped. “No, I just want to go back to my life and my job.”
“Maybe you do, but you can’t anymore,” Justice said.
“And why not?” she asked as she crossed her arms over her chest.
“Because, you are now on Deacon’s radar, sugar,” Liberty answered for him. “And that means you are in the same boat as we are.”
Chapter Fifteen:Just Hold On
Justice
When I saw Talon park, I gladly got out of the car to avoid the current argument between my brother and Scarlet's sister. I went over to where he sat on his bike.
Not looking happy at all, he tried to wipe the dust from his eyes with the bottom of his shirt.
“So, he does blow up everything he leaves behind,” I said as I stopped in front of him.
“Yeah, apparently,” Talon replied. “He’s thorough, you gotta give him that.” He looked up at me with a glare in his now red eyes. “But I am so sick and tired of this shithead. I want this to end, I want my entire family safe.”
“So, we find a place to go,” I said. “And we set a trap for him.”
“And we will do that, but you need to understand something here. Deacon will not be there to trap.”
I stared at him, hoping he was wrong, but I knew better.
“He won’t.” Talon shook his head. “No, he will not put himself in a spot where we can get him. The man is just too cunning for that. The fact that we caught his mother the way we did still astounds me. We had hunted her for months. What will happen is that we will take his army down and then we can go back into hiding until he comes at us all over again.” He looked disgusted as he added, “As you know already, it won’t end until he’s dead.”
I nodded. “Yeah, I already figured that out.”
“Talon?” Liv’s voice came over the comm. “We can hear you all, so we are glad to hear that you made it. No one was injured, right?”
“Not that I can see,” he replied. “Just a lot of dusty throats and red eyes and double that for me.”
“Good,” Live replied. “Well, I’m sure you aren’t comfortable, but you are alive to ride another day and that’s all that matters. So, the SAT shows a large plume of dust where the quarry used to be. He did it again, leaving no evidence behind. We found a place for you to set up at. We checked it out with Sofia and she says it has been empty for a couple of years.”
“So, how do we make it look like it is occupied?” I asked.
“We are sending a crew over there, but not just for battle,” Liv explained. “With some new paint and extra vehicles sitting there, we hope to make it look legit.”
“We will also put up cameras and security sensors,” Logan added. “Plus, it’s needed if any of us are there. Our men are loading extra weapons and even a few surface to air, some AK 47s. You know, the whole grocery list.”
“I say booby traps,” Liberty’s voice came over to join the conversation. “Lot’s of mutilating, body part spitting, small explosives.”
The comm went silent, then I spoke, “Bloodlust much there, Liberty?”
“Yeah, much,” Liberty replied. “They are coming to kill us, women and children too. I say no quarter should be given.”
“Oorah!” a bunch of voices came on.
I pulled my earpiece out with a wince to look over at the Rebel Saints sitting on their bikes.
They were all grinning.
“See?” Liberty said. “There are more here like me than you realized.”
