“Fuck my job! I want to make sure you two are safe.”
“We are,” Scarlet replied.
“Well, tell these two men to take me wherever it is and I will see you there.”
“I won’t be there right away, but I will be soon,” Scarlet told her.
“Fine. I could kill your dad for all of this.”
My gaze met with Scarlet’s across the way. Her mother wasn’t aware that her ex husband had nothing to do with it. As far as we knew anyway.
“I will explain it all when I come back,” Scarlet said. “Ok, Mom?”
“Fine.”
I wondered about this part. Explain that Belle went in on a plan with a man like Deacon to fool all of us, her mother included. I don’t think their mother would understand this at all.
“Ok, Keys here. What do you want me to do?”
Talon shook his head and said, “Have Smoke take her mother to the house in the Buick. Then…” He paused. “How much money do you have in your pocket?”
“What?” Keys asked. “Um, about two hundred I guess?”
“Ok, go and order as many quarter pounders as that will buy.”
“Come back?” Key asked in a confused voice.
“You heard me,” Talon said. “The men here are starving.”
Keys laughed. “Right, Oorah. I heard all of that.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Talon scoffed. “The coordinates to where we will be is on your bike screen. Be careful, man.”
“I will, over.”
“Talon, I am sending supplies with the men, you know?” Liv came on.
“Are those supplies quarter pounders?” Liberty butted in.
“Um no,” she replied.
“Look, we just went on a wild goose chase,” Liberty said. “Almost getting maimed by car wash brushes. Riding through dust and dark ass tunnels, then we almost got cliffsided by an explosion with more dust and shit. We deserve quarter pounders, cousin.”
I intentionally pulled my earpiece out ahead of time as yes, “Oorah,” came over the comms.
Talon looked over at me and asked, “How do you live with that?”
I knew he meant Liberty. I chuckled. “I’ve wanted to beat his ass more times than I can count, man.”
“Only he can’t,” Liberty came over again. “He might wrinkle his suit or some shit.”
Men were laughing over the comm.
“Ok, the locale is on your screens,” Talon took control again. “It’s only about twenty minutes away, so hopefully, our tanks can hold out.”
“Wait a minute,” Liberty came over again. “I’m checking the fuel on the Camaro.”
Talon and I looked over at the car.
