Liberty shook his head. “Nope, this thing is almost on E.”
“Well, then a couple of the men will have to double up,” I suggested. “And we take the girls on their bikes.”
“Me take Belle on a bike?” Liberty asked, then he exclaimed, “Ow! What did you smack me for?”
I saw that Belle had smacked his head from the backseat of the Camaro. “Yes, Liberty, you can do it,” I said.
“I don’t think so,” he replied. “This girl is vicious, brother.”
I got tired of this comm thing, so I walked over to the car. Ducking my head down, I looked at Liberty then to the backseat where Belle sat while fuming.
“She just smacked me!” Liberty complained. “No way can she be on my back. She loses her temper and we will wreck.”
Scarlet shook her head as she sat in the passenger seat. “I don’t think she’s ever been on a motorcycle before.”
“No, and I have no desire to do so,” Belle said.
“You don’t have a choice, sis,” Scarlet argued.
“I am tired of hearing that,” Belle retorted. “Just leave me here with the Camaro. It’s ten minutes to town, I’m sure it will make it.”
“No,” I said before Scarlet could even reply.
Belle glared at me. “You all cannot force me to go. That just makes Deacon right, doesn’t it?”
“Wow.” Liberty shook his head. “So delusional.”
“And I won’t ride with him, especially,” she added as he waved her hand at Liberty.
“Hey!” Liberty retorted. Then he turned in the seat to look back at her. “Oh, I get it.”
She still looked angry as she glared at him.
“You are afraid.” Liberty smirked at her. “That if you sit that close to me, you will get… a bittoowarm.”
Looking stunned, her mouth popped open at his outrageous statement.
“Yeah, you are attracted to me.” He nodded.
I tried in vain to smother my chuckle. My brother was either brave or outright stupid. Of course, that had been up for debate for most of his life.
“Oh, hell no!” Belle exclaimed and looked over at Scarlet. “You cannot be serious about making me ride with him!”
Scarlet shook her head and suggested, “Maybe you can ride with one of the other Rebel Saints?”
“Fine. If you all are making me go,” Belle retorted. “At least, I won’t have to put up with his inane chatter.”
Liberty stared at her. “Yep, you’re afraid of your attraction to me.”
She huffed and said, “There is no way I would fall for a man like you.”
“Yeah, keep telling yourself that,” Liberty said as he got out of the car.
Belle kept glaring, then she looked over at me.
I raised my hands up. “Hey, I am nothing like him.”
She rolled her eyes. “Well, Scarlet is lucky then.”
