“So, let’s say he has another way to track us,” I suggested.
“Like?” Talon stared at me.
“Logan?” I called over the comm.
“Yes?”
“You use a SAT to see everything, how did you manage that?” I asked him.
“Well, that’s a little complicated,” he replied.
“Too complicated for an FBI agent genius?” I said.
Silence. Then Logan replied, “He could manage it, but I’ve been target shooting that possibility and haven’t detected any movement your way.”
“But what if he does have SAT feed and he uses that now?”
“Well, shit,” was Logan’s reply.
“Yeah, so we should test it first,” I suggested.
“How?” Scarlet asked.
“We head out, but we go the opposite way of home,” I explained. “And Logan can study the other SATs to see if any of them turn the direction we go.”
“How is it that you know so much about this subject?” Logan asked.
“Haarrrvvvaard,” Liberty’s voice sung over the comm.
I chuckled at his reply. “I make a living by strategizing. In fact, it’s a hobby of mine. I also get hunches, just like any of you do. They don’t teach that in Harvard, Lib.”
“No one can beat him at chess, Rubic’s cube timing or Jeopardy,” Liberty stated. “It makes him insufferable to live with, man. I went to Vegas with him once and he won so much, they kicked us out for card counting or some shit.”
“I was not counting them,” I argued. “I just figured the odds ratios against the number of cards and the number of hands dealt along with the sum of—”
“Oh and that’s another thing,” Liberty added in disgust as he cut me off. “You cannot argue with the fucker. Not unless you wanna drop over dead from exhaustion.”
Laughter came over the comm.
“Well, his acumen as a strategist has already saved our asses a couple of times,” Talon stated. “Boys, let’s head out, guns at the ready.”
“To where?” Tank came over.
“Ramton,” Talon said as he met my gaze.
I knew he waited for the idea I already had, as I said, “His truck’s dirty.”
Silence fell over the comms, then Scarlet figured it out as she exclaimed, “The car wash!”
“Genius at work again,” Liberty said. “But I got a question.”
“Yes?” I turned to look at him.
Liberty shrugged. “He knows about the car wash, he built it.”
“Yes, but you’re missing the whole point,” I told him.
“Yeah, yeah and how many times have you told me that over the years?” Liberty snorted.
