I groaned as I sat up. My body was sore but in the best way. If I heard him right, he’d just told me to lock myself in the bathroom? I shook my head as I stood and went over to grab my dress. Tugging it over my head, I muttered to myself, “Damn man, should know better.” Turning as the dress came down over my body, I opened my top dresser drawer and grabbed my magnum. “Stay in the bathroom!” I rolled my eyes as I checked the gun’s clip and noted it was full. I skipped finding my sandals and went out the door barefoot.

Moving rapidly down the hall, I hurried. I knew Legend had a gun, but he never carried it on his person. I’d asked him many times what good was having a weapon if you never carried it with you? He told me he was a physician, not a soldier. I didn’t argue because it was true. But I feared for him at times. Especially in this war we had going on now.

Fate asked me one time why I was so head over heels about Legend. Telling me, I was sort of a warrior type woman while Legend was a humble, quiet doctor. I immediately got defensive and pointed out the fact that Fate was a sissy architect, not a tatted menace to society like some bikers were. All he did was laugh uproariously.

Yeah, I thought about it later on, Legend rode a motorcycle and he looked the part of being a biker but on the inside, he really wasn’t. He loved bikes but he wasn’t into the MC life as deep as some of the men here were. I think that was exactly why I loved him. He took care of people and cared about seriousthings in life. The fact that he stayed in school for all those years showed how dedicated he was to what he’d said was his calling in life. I did three years of college and couldn’t wait to get out. I had no patience for bookwork as they called it.

Besides, the outside of him was sexy as fuck. He proved last night that he was enough of a man for me. I remember telling him no wonder they called him Legend. Because hot damn, was he totally skilled at…” I had flashes of us in the shower and some of the things he’d done to my body. The way he kissed me. His hands all over me. I got a little breathless just thinking about it. I bit at my lip and forced the hot memories away as I came out into the main room. I hoped he wouldn’t head outside without a weapon, because that would be just like him to do that. If he was concerned about someone being injured out there, he would simply rush over to the downed person.

I halted and took a look around.

Legend was busy wrapping tape over the upper arm of one of our men at a table.

Turning my head, I spotted Uncle Zed close by.

He stood at another table as he spoke on his cell phone, “Yes, your men took care of it, Mr. Descalia. I’m sure our guards wouldn’t have made it without them.” He paused to listen then replied, “Ok, he is doctoring one of our guys right now. I’ll tell him to call you when he's done.” Swiping his cell screen, he lowered his phone.

I moved closer to ask him, “What happened, Uncle Zed?”

He slowly shook his head and explained, “Some hoodlums tried to scale the fence. Like five of them. Not sure what they were after, but they shot at a few of our guards. Our men were firing back but the intruders evaded them. Then these guys in suits came out of nowhere. They took down the trespassers. I spoke to one of them and he gave me Stephano Descalia’sphone number. Then the man told me they would be out there watching, so we didn’t have to worry. So I called Descalia. He wanted me to have Legend call him when he was done helping the wounded.”

I glanced over at Legend to see him checking out Steel, a Requiem Lieutenant. “What did Legend say about this?”

“I haven’t told him yet,” Zed replied.

I paused. I wasn’t sure how Legend would react to this. He hadn’t been happy when his dad and brother showed up here. “I’ll tell him.” I turned to Zed. “Can you text the phone number to his phone?”

“Sure…” Zed lowered his gaze then tapped his cell phone screen with his finger.

“Thanks, Uncle Zed.” I walked over to where Legend stood.

“You will need some antibiotics, Steel,” Legend spoke to the biker in low tones. “I’ll have one of the guys bring them to you after I get my bag from my room.”

“Thanks Doc,” Steel said. “We were lucky those Italians came along when they did.”

Legend paused as he snipped the last of the medical tape then tamped it down on Steel’s arm. “Italians?”

“Your dad’s men,” I interjected.

Swinging his gaze up at me, Legend asked, “He had his men here?”

I shrugged. “That’s what Uncle Zed told me.”

“Fuck,” Legend muttered under his breath then nodded at Steel. “You’re good to go.”

Giving Legend a respectful nod, the large biker moved away.

Legend’s phone buzzed from his pocket.

“That’s Uncle Zed texting you with your dad’s cell number,” I informed him. “He must have had his men assigned here already. Then they saw the hoodlums as Uncle Zed called them.”

“I shouldn't be surprised.” Legend shut the lid on the first aid kit. “He’s going to butt right in and push until he gets what he wants.”

“Yeah, I know,” I said.

Pausing, he looked up at me. “You know?”

“Yes, Legend. I have good instincts when it comes to people, remember? Your dad definitely wants you back into the fold and I believe he will use this Walker War to do it.”
