“But especially you, girl.” He laughed.
“Yes, yes.” I squeezed Legend’s upper arm with my fingers. “And it finally paid off.”
“And y’all got the text about the zoom thing?” Uncle Zed asked.
“You mean the meeting for the battle?” Legend asked.
Zed’s smile faded from his face. “Yep, that’s the one.” He slowly shook his head as he shoved his hands into his jean pockets.
“Why do you look so worried, Uncle Zed?” I asked in concern. “They have an entire army with the Rebel Saints.”
“I know, but I won’t be there when they go to war. I’m on duty here and I worry about them all.”
Uncle Zed was the one Jarret had wanted to run the Requiem here while Redemption was gone. That was why he had already returned to the clubhouse a month back.
Legend and I went quiet. What could we say?
“I’m thinking your father is already hunting for Deacon though,” Uncle Zed said as he gave Legend a nod.
Legend looked troubled. “I didn’t want him involved.”
‘Like you’re gonna stop that man from doing anything.” Zed scoffed.
“That’s what I think,” I agreed. “Legend and I are going to visit him and Legend’s family.”
Zed looked surprised, then he nodded. “It might be a good idea. You’ll be safe there.”
I shook my head. “Why does everyone keep saying that?”
“Deacon kidnapped you, Glory,” Legend stated. “I mean you don’t seem to realize…” His voice fell away.
I stared at him and saw the pain in his eyes. “Ohhh, Legend. I never thought about…”
Turning, he faced me. “We all suffered.”
Uncle Zed nodded. “Legend was a mess. His feelings for you showed then.”
I rolled my eyes. “Too bad, I never saw that.”
Legend laughed now. “You are such a brat.”
I grinned at him. “At least you know what you’re getting into.”
Uncle Zed laughed with us. “Oh, I’m sure he knows what he’s getting into, little Glory. So just behave, ok? I will talk to you both later.” He paused and stared at us as he stated quietly, “I am very happy to see you together and I cannot wait for the wedding.” With a wink at us, he then moved away.
“Wow, they all just have me married off, already,” I noted with a laugh.
“About that…” Legend tapped my nose with his finger. “How am I gonna surprise you with a proposal when they all keep bringing it up?”
I laughed and then explained to him, “I am still in a state of utter astonishment that you finally relented and became my boyfriend. So don’t worry because when you propose, I will be in a state of shock all over again.”
We both stared at each other then we laughed together.
We heard female laughter joining ours and looked up.
There stood my new sister in laws. Scarlet, Briget and Belle. They were all beaming at us.
I smiled back at them.
