“Yeah,” he replied as he headed down the hall. “You know that in the Requiem, you cannot stay as a member if you don’tpass the shooting grade every year. It’s just like being a cop as far as that goes.”
“Yes, of course I know. My dad put that in the bylaws, but my point Legend…is that you don’t seem to care enough about your own personal safety.”
He snickered. “I got you now though. Don’t I?”
“Unbelievable!” I exclaimed as I laughed.
We arrived outside, went down the steps and stopped at the limo.
Rushing over to us, a man in a black suit and cap greeted us, “Mr. Descalia and Ms. Walker!”
We both stared at him.
I smiled. “Look, I’m Glory and this is Legend. No mister or missus. Ok?”
The man looked a bit flustered. “B-but…”
Legend nodded at him. “Yes, please just use our first names.”
I elbowed Legend. “You mean call you Giovanni, right?”
Smiling, Legend slowly shook his head and asked the driver, “And your name is?”
“Oscar,” the chauffeur replied.
Nodding, Legend walked around the back. “Ok, Oscar…if you will open the trunk for us, we will deposit our bags.”
Oscar gasped as he looked aghast. “Oh, no sir! I can get your bags,” he said as he grabbed my duffel and hanger bag from my hand. “This is my job.”
I smiled at his dramatic frustration and allowed him to take my bags.
Rushing over to Legend, he then took his duffle and suit bag.
Legend also allowed the man to take them. “Ok, ok.” He then looked over at me. “See? People have their jobs. It is what they do. Excel in. Mine is not shooting people.”
I laughed. “No shit.”
“No, that’s our job,” someone said.
Turning, we looked over.
Steel and Duke were standing a few feet away.
Legend chuckled. “See? Their job.”
“Yes, Miss Glory,” Steel spoke softly, though his deep voice made it sound loud. “We will do all that we can to protect you and Doc.”
Standing next to him, all Duke did was cross his massive arms over his wide chest and nod at us.
I shook my head. “I get that. But don’t forget we have an extra gun on this.”
“You mean two, right?” Duke spoke up.
“Yeah, the Italian guys.” Steel nodded.
I tisked as I shook my head. “Me. You both know I can outshoot all of you, right?”
The two bikers mutely stared at me.
