“Faith,” he said, reaching out and tapping her on the nose with his index finger, “I just want to see you happy. You have to believe that. I’ll give you whatever you need, and right now, I think you needed that.”
“But you?—”
“I’m fine.”
She met his eye. “I feel that we are no longer even with one another. I would like you to experience the same. I will not be able to sleep otherwise.”
“Well,” he said, swallowing hard. “I would not want to ruin your sleep.”
“Exactly,” she said, smiling triumphantly, reaching out a hand.
“I can do it,” he said, waving her away, and her face fell.
“You do not want me to?—”
“It is not that I do notwantyou, Faith,” he said. “It is that if you touch me at this point, I will only last a second or two. And you are worth savoring.”
Her mouth formed a round O.
“Can I watch, then?”
Somehow that was nearly as erotic as her stroking him herself, but he couldn’t say no to her request.
He backed away slightly as he reached down and took his cock in his hand, keeping her stare as he moved back and forth.
Her eyes dropped to watch him, and he couldn’t help a smile of satisfaction when her breath hitched.
“Do you like what you see?” he asked in a low voice.
“I suppose,” she said, and he appreciated the fact that she was never coy but rather said exactly what she was thinking.
He knew he wasn’t going to last long, and when she covered his hand with her own, moving with him, he groaned in defeat as he began to spend on his wrapper that was lying on the bed below them. Through the slits in his eyelids, he saw Faith’s face flushing again as a glossy sheen covered her eyes and her pink lips dropped open.
“That was… intriguing,” she said, and he lifted his brows.
“It was?”
“Very much so,” she said, as he rolled away from her and cleaned everything up around them, throwing his wrapper on the floor.
“There is more where that came from,” he said. “But not tonight. Tonight, we have to sleep.”
“You’re not scared anymore?” she said, her lips curling up into a smile.
“I believe you have chased my worries away,” he said. “Now come here.”
She backed up into him, resuming their usual position. The tension had dissipated, leaving in its wake not the awkwardness that he had been concerned about, but rather comfort.
His only fear now? How much he was going to miss this once it was gone.

The house wasa bit brighter in the morning light, although there were still strange shadows cast about the property that had the hairs on the back of Faith’s neck standing up.
“I told you there are ghosts,” Eric whispered in her ear as they descended the stairs together.
Faith had awoken with her cheek resting firmly on Eric’s hard, muscled chest. She had kept her eyes closed a few moments longer after she awoke, enjoying the moment before he knew what she was doing.
They had fallen into their morning routine of preparing themselves for the day, and now leaving the room and walking down together felt comfortable. Almost too comfortable.
