“Fitz!” she said brightly, sitting up in bed. “I was wondering if I would ever see you again.”
He loved her teasing laugh and he had to stop himself from bounding over to her.
“My sisters have monopolized you.”
“So, you are interested in spending more time with me?” she said, raising her brows. “I thought perhaps it was all just talk the other night.”
“Not talk,” he said, shaking his head. “I meant what I said.” He paused. “Although, I will not put you in any jeopardy again. I think it’s time that we take a step backward.”
“What does that mean?” she asked, closing her book and placing it on the nightstand beside her as the light in her eyes dimmed.
“That means,” he said, curling his lips up as that mischievousness he had been trying to shed made itself known once more, “that we need to go back to lessons four and five. The ones we missed.”
She bit her lip, obviously as affected as he was. “But I so enjoyed lesson six.”
“It was enjoyable, yes,” he said, nodding as though he was deep in thought. “But order is important, do you not agree?”
“No,” she said laughing. “Do you not know me? That being said, I am a willing student, so I will obey my instructor.”
“Obey you will,” he said with a growl before practically diving on top of her, his lips landing on hers.
It seemed so much more proper this time, to be in a bed, and yet, proper was not exactly a term to describe anything related to Eliza. For she did not lie there and wait for him to take all of the initiative. She was just as eager as he was, wriggling beneath his grasp, responsive to his every touch, undressing him with the same urgency he did her.
When they were both naked to one another, he had to stop and compose himself, for he was worried that he was about to come right there in front of her before they had even touched one another.
“Fitz,” she moaned as she ran her hands over him, her touch igniting his skin as though he had been burned, bucking her hips up into him. “Can we just?—”
“No,” he said, but he knew what she wanted even if she didn’t herself. He ran his hands over those silky thighs that he couldn’t get enough of before kneeling before her, lowering his face to her center.
She gasped as his tongue flicked against her, finding the bundle of nerves he knew would send her spiraling. She ground into him as he used his tongue, teeth, lips, and fingers to keep her on edge, never quite knowing what to expect from him.
“Fitz,” she gasped again, his name coming on the edge of one of her pants.
“Yes?”
“I like lesson four.”
He grinned wolfishly. “We’re just getting started,” he said before continuing his efforts. She had wanted to experience pleasure? Well, she would never experience anything like this ever again. He would be unmatched. Of that, he would make sure.
CHAPTER 14
Eliza was still coming down from the high Fitz had taken her to as they lay on her bed and she stared dreamily at the ceiling, her eyes lazily following the intricate gold-leaf flower and vine motifs that covered the wooden beams.
“Tell me something about you,” she said dreamily.
“Like what?”
“Anything. Something no one else knows.”
Fitz paused, rubbing a hand over his forehead as he seemed to consider her question. “How about my name?”
“Your name?”
“My Christian name,” he said, flipping over onto his stomach to stare at her, a large grin widening over his face. “Do you know it?”
She bit her lip. She must know it. How could she not? But the more she considered it, the more she realized that he was right – she had no idea what his name was.
“Very well,” she said. “You are right. I don’t know it.”
