She blinked and her blush spread down her décolletage, disappearing into her dress. But she didn’t look away.
“What’s the condition?” she breathed softly.
“Afterward, I get you all to myself, and you let me show you that you only need one man to satisfy your every desire.”
Amusement flashed in her expression and she arched an eyebrow. “And who might that man be?”
“Me, Madeline,” I said. “You’ll only ever need me.”
Chapter5
Odette
Ifelt my cheeks flush and found myself smiling broadly as I watched him, letting my eyes roam freely over his face.
“Byron, then,” I deadpanned, while my heart threatened to beat out of my chest. His strong body was so close to me. His scent overwhelmed all my other senses. He smelled nice, like citrus and sandalwood—all wrapped in sex. It was all man. “And I won’t forget to scream the right name.”
I faked the confidence that I didn’t really have at that very moment. My sister had tons to spare, but I was usually the reserved one. But not tonight. Maybe not ever again. This man brought it all out of me. To hell with caution and smarts—I didn’t want to miss out.
“Good,” he said, his eyes lingering on my lips as we continued swaying to the beat of the music. “I can’t wait to hear your hoarse voice as you scream it for the hundredth time.”
He was confident enough for both of us. I actually liked that quality in him. Maybe not in all men, but something told me he was good for it.
“Did it ever occur to you that maybe you’ll screammyname?” I asked, feigning innocence and plastering an exaggerated frown on my face.
To his credit, he played along. He tilted his head, considering my question. “You’re right, Madeline, that hadn’t occurred to me. What I can guarantee, though, is that you’ll be screaming first. Always first.”
I felt my jaw drop open. This man was not at all what I expected. I shook my head, barely containing my smile. At this rate, we’d end up in the corner before this song was over. The throbbing between my thighs intensified with those images. I wouldn’t mind that at all. And if his friend River joined us, it would be the full package.
My eyes darted over to his friend whose gaze was already fixed on us, but something about Byron pulled me back to him. It was as if every cell of my body needed him. It was thrilling and slightly terrifying.
Byron’s gaze was on River as he gave him a terse nod, which moved River into motion.
“What’s that about?” I asked curiously.
He smiled darkly. Sinfully. “I told him we’re doing this.”
My heart leapt, pulse drumming in my ears. It almost stopped my breath. I gulped, trying to get a grip on myself and not act like a silly, giddy girl.
“So did you really doze off while sunbathing?” It was safer to change subjects. My whole body buzzed with anticipation, and I really hoped he’d deliver. I hadn’t gotten laid in over nine months.
“That’s what I said,” he answered. I scoffed softly and he frowned. “Why does it seem like you don’t believe me?”
I leaned in so my lips grazed his ear and said, “I don’t believe you. You’re not the kind to just doze off.”
“I’m not?” Interest laced his voice as he pulled me tighter against him. The music around us blared, but I could feel his every word as it trailed down my neck.
“No, you’re not.” There wasn’t an ounce of doubt in my voice. “You’re not relaxed enough.”
He frowned. “Meaning?”
“You’re too—” I searched for the right word. “Too intense. You would never just doze off in a chair. On a plane. On a beach. Anywhere, in fact.”
I smiled as he twirled me around and brought me back to him, the bodies crowding around us virtually nonexistent.
“Am I right?” I couldn’t resist asking.
He paused for a moment. “Maybe,” he answered cryptically.
