“Hurry up. Take her out of here.”

Emily stumbled into Sebastian’s arms, and he caught her with practiced ease, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her close protectively. Adam grabbed Sebastian’s hand and placed it firmly into Emily’s.

“I’m trusting you with my sister,” Adam said. “Take care of her.”

“Of course,” Sebastian said with a quiet, smug smile, instantly agreeing. He bent down and lifted Emily into his arms, holding her close against his chest.

Lucas, meanwhile, watched the entire exchange with narrowed, doubtful eyes. His gaze flickered repeatedly between Sebastian and Emily—studying the way Emily clung to Sebastian, the way they looked at each other.

A slow seed of suspicion grew in his mind. ‘Is there something going on between them?’ The thought gnawed at him.

Jeremy, standing nearby, noticed the tension and stepped forward. Gently, he reached out to Emily, rubbing her arm in a calming gesture. “You should leave,” he murmured gently. “I’ll stay with your brother and handle this.”

Sebastian didn’t wait a second longer. With a protective grip around Emily, he carried her out of the room.

Lucas immediately took a hasty step forward, trying to follow and grab Emily again, but Adam was quicker. He stepped right in front of Lucas, blocking his path like a wall of steel. The bottle was again raised in Adam’s hand, inches from Lucas’s face, gleaming dangerously under the light.

His glare could have cut glass. “Now,” Adam growled, voice low and menacing, “it’s just you and me.”

The next second, Adam’s fist crashed into Lucas’s face.

Sebastian’s car came to a stop outside his house. He stepped out, still cradling Emily in his arms. He hadn’t let her down since picking her up, and as he stepped out of the car, she glanced around—surprised to see they were at his place.

She shifted in his arms, wiggling free from his hold and landing on her feet. She turned to face him, a hint of hesitation in her voice.

“I’ll get a cab. I want to go home.”

Before she could move, Sebastian’s hand shot out, gripping her arm firmly but gently. His other hand snatched her bag from her, pulling it to himself. Without warning, he lifted her up again, carrying her effortlessly toward the house.

“What are you doing?” she asked, a hint of protest in her voice—but it was quickly swallowed as he strode inside without paying any attention to her words.

“Mrs. Graves,” he murmured, “have you forgotten? We’re already married. “You shouldn’t be anywhere but inside my bedroom.”

He tightened his grip just slightly as he continued, voice dropping to something more intimate, “We’re a couple now. So it’s not right for us to sleep apart—let alone in different houses. No separate bedrooms, either. You’ll be sleeping in my bed from now on.”

Carrying her through the living room, Sebastian didn’t put her down on the floor when they reached the bedroom. Instead, he set her gently on the table. His hand slid from her waist down to her leg, lifting it carefully. His eyes flicked down to her ankle, where a faint redness showed.

His thumb brushed over her skin with such delicate care it sent a shiver rippling through her spine.

“Does it hurt?” he asked softly, his gaze searching hers for any sign of pain.

“It’s just a minor sprain,” she replied quietly. “It doesn’t hurt anymore.”

He nodded, releasing her foot, then leaned closer. His eyes locked onto hers as he slid his hands to rest on her hips. His eyes locked onto hers with an intensity that made her breath catch.

Emily felt breathless, barely able to hold his gaze. Sebastian was her brother’s best friend—someone she had only ever seen in that light. Now, being this close, feeling his presence so intimately, stirred a panic she had never known before. Her heart pounded uncontrollably in her chest as waves of confusion and something deeper flooded through her.

She whispered softly, her voice barely above a breath as she started to lean backward, trying to create space between them. “Isn’t it too soon for us to be sleeping in the same bed?”

Sebastian’s eyes never left her lips as he answered. “How is it too soon when you’ve already held me in bed… kissed me? We haven't even consummated our marriage until now. Isn’t it only natural for us to sleep together, Mrs. Graves?”

Sebastian’s hands gripped her hips, thumbs pressing hard into the soft flesh as he leaned in, pressing his chest against hers.Emily’s back arched instinctively, heart racing, breath catching in her throat as his gaze burned into hers.

His hands slid around her waist, pulling her closer until she could feel the full heat of him.

He bent down, mouth claiming hers in a fierce kiss, teeth grazing her lower lip as his tongue pressed urgently against hers. She gasped, hands clutching at his shoulders.
