Adam, standing on the other side of Harold’s bed, pivoted quickly and moved beside Sebastian and Emily. He shoved Sebastian’s shoulder sharply, his voice snapping with authority. “Sebastian… you’re my friend, but I’m Emily’s brother. Shouldn’tIbe the one warning her?”
Sebastian didn’t move away from Emily for a second, his eyes still burning with protective intensity. Then he shifted his gaze to Adam and spoke in a controlled but calm voice. “Of course, you’re my best friend. That’s why I care about your sister as well. Got a problem with that?”
Adam’s pride swelled. He gripped Sebastian’s shoulder, respect in his eyes. “Just because of me, you care about her so much? Even more than me?”
Sebastian solemnly nodded. “Of course.”
Harold, taking advantage of their distraction, leapt out of the bed. “I’m going to grab a glass of water,” he said hurriedly, sliding past them with a panicked glance at their dangerous stares, eager to escape before any of his bones got broken.
Sebastian’s eyes followed Harold until he was safely out of reach. Then, his gaze softened as he turned to Emily. “Harold is my cousin. Don’t worry so much about him.”
Emily exhaled slowly, her shoulders relaxing slightly under his gaze, though a flicker of tension still lingered in her chest.
Before he could step closer to her, Adam’s hand shot out, gripping Emily’s arm and turning her toward himself. His jaw was tight, eyes sharp as he warned, “Stay away from him from now on!”
Emily nodded, her smile now tinged with confusion.
Sebastian glanced between Emily and Adam. He stepped just a little closer to brush her shoulder, anchoring her to him. “Time to go home,” he announced. “It’s already pretty late.”
Adam grunted in agreement. The three of them came out of the room and started walking down the hospital hallway.
Adam’s phone buzzed, and he stepped ahead, answering the call. Emily, walking next to Sebastian, felt his hand grab her waist, pulling her close.
Emily slowed her steps, startled. “Sebastian?” she whispered, looking up at him in surprise.
He leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to her cheek, then trailing to her neck. She pushed at him in panicked surprise, glancing at Adam, who was still absorbed in his call.
Sebastian chuckled softly at her struggles, undeterred. He cupped her face, pulling her close, and pressed multiple kisses to her lips until she lost her breath. When he finally pulled back, he kissed both her cheeks, his hands lingering on her waist, lifting slightly as he pressed her against him while she tried to walk steadily.
Adam’s voice cut through. “Alright, I’ll check on this,” he said, finishing his call and hanging up. He turned back to look at them.
Sebastian immediately removed his arm from Emily’s waist, stepping aside. Emily’s cheeks flushed crimson, her hair partially covering her face, still tingling from the trail of kisses Sebastian had left.
“Why are you both walking so slowly?” Adam asked with a frown. “Come quickly. Walk with me. At this pace, we won’t reach home until tomorrow!”
Emily and Sebastian exchanged a glance, then increased their pace to fall in step beside Adam. Adam’s eyes flicked to Emily, noticing her flushed face. “Why is your face always so red every time I look at you these days?” he asked, concern knitting his brows.
Emily’s breath caught, her heart racing. She quickly stammered an excuse. “It’s… it’s nothing. I just get heat stroke easily because of the weather lately.”
Adam didn’t look convinced, but he gave a small nod. “Alright. I’ll send some things to help with that… maybe some cooling patches. Take care of yourself,” he said before returning his attention forward.
Emily shot Sebastian a seething glare as he walked on the other side of her, but the infuriating man only responded with a smug smirk, following silently behind her and Adam.
“Wait here,” Adam said as they stepped outside the hospital. “I’ll go bring the car around.”
“Alright,” Emily replied. Sebastian stayed close behind. The moment Adam disappeared from sight, Sebastian pulled her toward him again, wrapping his arms possessively around her waist.
Emily’s face went even redder, panic rising in her chest. “My brother’s going to see! What are you doing?!” she whispered.
Sebastian’s lips curved into a slow, wicked smirk. He leaned in, brushing a feather-light kiss across her cheek, so close to her ear it made her shiver. “He’s not going to be here anytime soon. The car’s seven floors down,” he murmured.
Before she could even breathe, his arms were around her, holding her flush against him. His mouth descended onto hers again, pressing firmly. He nibbled along the edge of her bottom lip, sucking it gently before sliding his tongue to trace the soft line, circling, dipping, pressing, sending a shudder through her.
He pulled back just slightly, lips brushing over her jaw and down her neck. His tongue traced the tender hollow beneath her ear, flicking and sucking at the sensitive skin, and his teeth grazed her collarbone in quick, teasing bites. Emily gasped, pressing closer, feeling the heat of his body pressing into hers.
Sebastian returned to her mouth, capturing it again hungrily. His tongue pressed along hers, tracing, pressing, then flicking sharply as his teeth caught her bottom lip again, tugging just enough to make her knees weaken.
A car rolled to a stop outside the hospital, idling by the entrance. Inside, Camila sat waiting for the driver to return with the medicines the doctor had prescribed. Her gaze wandered idly out the window, scanning the area—until it landed on a couple kissing near the hospital entrance.
