Emily gave a small nod, then added, “But… I have a condition.”

Instantly, his body tensed, the air around him sharpening.

“What is it?” he asked, his voice clipped, ready—for anything.

She bit her lip, hands clutching at his shirt. The thin fabric tore under her grip, and he hovered over her, looking down, breath heavy. He could barely stop himself from leaning in and taking that lip between his teeth.

The restraint it took to keep his control was suffocating. Every inch of him burned for her.

And yet, the very woman who’d caused years of torment and longing now lay beneath him, soft, innocent eyes gazing up at him like she wasn’t the center of every storm in his life.

“We won’t tell anyone about the marriage… or the relationship. Not yet,” she said softly.

His jaw clenched. His eyes darkened with disapproval, already opening his mouth to protest, but before he could say a word, she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him closer.

“Please,” she whispered. “I want to wait until the rumors about me and Lucas die down,” she continued, her voice trembling slightly. Her arms tightened around his neck, her gaze unsure but pleading. “I’m also scared my brother won’t accept it—us—if it comes out so suddenly. Can we keep it a secret for now?”

For a moment, Sebastian said nothing. Then, his features softened.

He leaned down, pressing his lips to hers hard and slow. His mouth covered hers, biting lightly, then sucking her lower lip before flicking it with his tongue. Emily gasped, her fingers curling into his shoulders as he pulled her closer.

He tilted her head slightly, lips moving over hers, pressing, sliding, and teasing. His tongue brushed hers, then pulled back only to brush again, teeth grazing her lips just enough to make her shiver. One hand cupped the back of her head, fingers threading through her hair, holding her in place. The other pressed against her waist, pulling her flush against him.

He broke the kiss for a heartbeat, lips hovering against hers before diving back in, harder this time. He moved his mouth down to her jaw, biting lightly, then sliding to her neck, licking and nipping every spot that made her arch and gasp. His hands roamed over her sides, exploring, pressing, holding.

Then he bit her ear lightly. His mouth trailed down her neck. He licked, nipped, tasting the soft skin, pausing to feel every shiver she couldn’t hold back. Her gasp hit the air, her back arching slightly, breath growing ragged.

Every touch made her body melt into his, every kiss leaving her trembling.

When he pulled back, her breath was gone. She blinked up at him, dazed. A smug, satisfied smile curved his mouth as he looked down at her. His thumb traced the edge of her jaw.

He gently tucked a lock of hair behind her ear, letting his fingers graze her skin. “I’ll take care of it,” he murmured. “Don’t worry.”

Finally, Sebastian pulled away abruptly, hands slipping off her skin as he pushed himself up. He swung his legs over the side of the bed and stood quickly, eyes still locked on hers with a sharp, possessive gleam.

‘You’re mine now. Once I marry you, you won’t be able to hide us for a lifetime,’ he thought, every step sharp with certainty.

He stepped out of the room, a quiet satisfaction on his face.

Emily lay still for a moment, her chest rising and falling fast. The silence stretched as she sat up slowly, her eyes following his retreating figure. Her hands clutched the sheets, her mind racing, trying to process his touch, his kiss, his words.

But more than anything…

That look on his face when she mentioned her condition.

Her brows pulled together.

“Did you trap me on purpose…?” she called out, her voice sharp, chasing after him.

But he was already gone.

No answer.

Lucas tossed back another glass of whiskey, the rim clinking hard against the table as he set it down with more force than necessary. His jaw tensed, eyes scanning the party for the hundredth time.

Still no sign of Emily.
