Emily slipped her arm from Adam’s. “Wait here, I’ll be back.” She stepped out of the office.
Sebastian turned to Adam. “I need to use the washroom. I’ll be back in a second,” he said quickly, already moving after her.
Adam frowned. “Why do you need the washroom every time you’re with me? Do you have a bladder problem?” Sebastian was already striding away, disappearing out the door. Adam shouted after him, “Get your liver checked!”
Emily, unaware Sebastian was on her heels, headed toward the meeting room. She reached the stairs when Sebastian caught up, grabbing her hand. He pulled her back, pressing her against the wall in the stairwell.
Her breath caught in surprise, her mind blank for a moment in shock. Then she saw Sebastian standing right in front of her.
His eyes locked on hers, pissed off and displeased.
“You just told your brother he’s the one you’ve loved most since childhood, and everyone else is temporary?” His voice was deathly quiet. “Does that include me?”
She was startled by his sudden appearance but quickly straightened, shaking off the surprise. Meeting his gaze, a faint curve tugged at her lips.
“You’re not jealous of my brother, are you?” she teased softly.
“What if I am?” Sebastian’s eyes didn’t flicker with the slightest hint of humor.
Before she could react, his hand clamped to the back of her head, and his mouth crushed down on hers. His lips sealed over hers firmly, almost roughly, before his teeth caught her bottom lip and tugged, a sharp nip that sent a jolt through her.
Then his tongue slid along the sting he left behind before pushing past her parted lips. He kissed her deeply, tongue stroking hers in long, wet sweeps, retreating only to surge forward again, tasting her fully.
His mouth moved over hers again and again—sucking at her top lip, then her bottom, biting softly before soothing the mark with a lingering lick. Each time their tongues met, he angled her head differently, taking the kiss deeper, messier, until her breath hitched and her fingers bunched in his shirt.
She shoved at his chest finally, breaking the kiss with a gasp, lips swollen and tingling. “Sebastian—stop,” she snapped, voice shaking. “We’re in the office. Someone will see us. Adam is also here!”
His gaze burned as he rasped, enraged, “Why are you afraid? Even if Adam sees us, you don’t have to hide anything. Let’s go and tell him about us right now!”
He caught her hand and started pulling her up the stairs again, his grip tight, impatient.
But Emily resisted this time, yanking her hand back, planting her feet so he couldn’t drag her away so easily.
“Sebastian—” she began, her voice strained, ready to snap at him.
Before she could get another word out, a voice rang out from below, sharp and furious, echoing up the stairwell.
“What the fuck have you been doing so far?”
Both Sebastian and Emily froze.
Emily quickly leaned over the stair railing. Sebastian followed, peering down.
Two floors down, Lucas was on a call, pacing as he barked into his phone. “I asked you to help me get my girlfriend back, but you haven’t even called me with an update until now! What’s the point of having you as a friend?”
Emily’s heart dropped. She quickly grabbed Sebastian’s hand and pulled him back, hiding them from view so Lucas wouldn’t see.
Lucas barked sharply into the phone. “I asked you to do one damn thing, and you still haven’t done it! How hard is it to find a woman’s home? Can’t you handle even this small task, Taylor?””
On the other end, Taylor’s voice came through, tinged with impatience. “Lucas… if you really want to reconcile with Emily, that’s one thing. Butshemight not want to get back with you. Have you thought about that?”
“Shut up!” Lucas barked, his voice low and hard. “I have told you a hundred fucking times! Don’t you dare say she doesn’t want me. She’s always loved me, and she still does. This is just a fight—I’ll handle it. Stop trying to ruin my goddamn relationship!”
Sebastian’s eyes locked onto Emily’s face, blazing with rage and jealousy. Without warning, he grabbed her by her waist and pressed her against the wall again.
The low thud of his voice startled Lucas, who immediately glanced around the stairs, rigid with suspicion.
Finding no one, his body went rigid, and he scanned the stairs, calling out, “Who’s there?!”
