A lithe, little blonde wearing short-shorts and a jog bra ran past me, her pert ass shaking as she took thelead.

Well, fuck, it was Dani. Seeing her made all sorts of thoughts and feelings arise, not the least of which was, what a sight. I liked girls who took care of themselves. They inspired me. Those girls at the gym doing squats in tight leggings that left nothing to theimagination?

Hooah.

Even better, though, was that it wasDani, no shit, the girl of my dreams, just running out of reach. Always one step away from me. Always just too far for me tograsp.

Not this time,though.

“Hey!”

I sped up and caught up with her, clipping along at a fast pace. After nine laps around the park, I struggled to keep up, but I pushedthrough.

She glared at me. “Oh. It’s you. Are you stalkingme?”

I didn’t say anything, matching my pace withher.

Goddamn, she was incredible. No wonder her body was so tight andtiny.

“Dani, how long you gonna keep thisup?”

“Until I shake you off ofme.”

“That’s not gonna happen,” I wheezed. “Are you going to hate meforever?”

“Yes.”

I let out an involuntary laugh, my breath forced out through exercise. “So, no debate aboutthat?”

“Nope.” She stopped running and pointed a finger in my face. “You are the worst thing that ever happened to my family, Trent Milner. I never want to see you again. I don’t want you in my class. I don’t want you in my life. I want you gone. Now.” She turned and started up again, and I felt sick to mystomach.

Dani’s words pelted me in the gut. But since I’d already lost everything, there was nothing left for me to do butfight.

“Ooohkay,” I said, and I kept running next to her. I wasn’t backing down from thischallenge.
