“We can’t do much about it.” Anna shook her head.

Alice crossed her arms. “If they don’t like it here, they can leave.”

?

Ryosuke’s muscles relaxed when Lennart pulled out of him. He sighed and wiped the wet strands of hair that cling to his forehead. Lennart had his hands still around him so Ryosuke nuzzled into his shoulder.

“I’m sorry, but I want to hold you a little longer,” Lennart said almost in a whisper.

Ryosuke didn’t respond, he just rested his forehead on his shoulder. Lennart caressed his bare back, and added, “I know you want this to remain only between us, and I’m not suggesting anything else. I just–”

Lennart trailed off and Ryosuke’s heart squeezed.

“I want this to be our comfort in these hard times. I want us to be each other’s light in the dark. Something like that. You know?” He paused briefly. “Damn, I’m so corny. I apologize.”

Ryosuke quietly nodded and smiled. He moved his head so he could look into Lennart’s face.

“But, the moment you want us to stop…This… Just let me know. Okay?” Lennart added.

“Okay.” Ryosuke confirmed, but quickly looked elsewhere. He held back the tears that threatened to gather in his eyes. He blinked a couple of times, sighed and accidentally sniffed.

“I’ll let you go now. I really need to eat,” Lennart said and smiled. “Thanks for the food.”

“You’re welcome. I also need to get some things done before I go to work anyway, so…” Ryosuke said and hopped off. He picked up his scattered clothes and dressed.

“Yeah, of course.” Lennart zipped his pants and put his t-shirt back on. He started eating his breakfast when Ryosuke exited his room. In the meantime, he grabbed his phone and dialed his mother’s number.

“Hey! How are you holding up?”Anna asked after a ring.

“Sorry I didn’t answer the door earlier. I’m better now.”

“Of course! Hugo and I just wanted to see if you’re okay. We were checking on the residents too, you know what I mean.”

“I understand. Now we need to be more alert in case someone gets a funny idea.”

“We’re debating this with others right now.”

“Good. For now I’ll keep an eye on the levels from my room. I’ll talk to you later.”

“Sure. Bye.”

Lennart watched the cameras until he finished his food. He put the tray aside and checked his email when a message from Elin caught his attention. He clicked on it right when he spotted it. The email contained a full autopsy report just as he hoped.

Finally.

He carefully scanned through the external and internal examination results, laboratory data, evidence that was collected, and finally came to the bottom of the report.

Opinion:

Time of Death: 00:30 - 02:30

Cause of Death: Poisoning/aspiration

Manner of Death: Homicide

Remarks: Toxicology Results of blood, hair, liver and bowels revealed lorazepam and alcohol. Vomit in her throat and lungs indicated the cause of death as aspiration after being rendered unconscious. Stomach contents reveal that she probably ingested the alcohol within a few minutes of her death.

Lennart scanned the rest of the report which indicated Scarlett had been in relatively good health otherwise and had no evidence of hypodermic injection marks. He immediately searched the list of medicines that were prescribed during their stay in the bunker. The list wasn’t long, but the most prescribed medicine was lorazepam.
