I heard the word leave my lips as the truth finally smacked me in the face.
Time to learn how it feels.
My reflection hadn’t been the first person to say that to me. That was the vow Juliette had made when she told me I wastaking everything from her.
In retaliation forstealingAster, she was…
“Oh my fucking gods!” I screeched.
Juliette giggled, snug in my skin she’d long coveted.
Kylo’s lips were onherneck.
He’d rescuedher.
“Changeling,” I gasped, borrowing a term from faerie mythology.
She’d been watching me. Sneaking into places she didn’t belong. She knew things she shouldn’t have known.
She stole a vial of my blood.
And the visions of mirrors had begun directly after—visions of Juliette playing dress-up with my motherfuckingbody.
She’d been studying me, all this time. My likes and dislikes. My mannerisms.
An emotion I’d never felt overtook me as Juliette kissed the love of my life and forced me to watch. My body vibrated uncontrollably with suppressed magick.
Kylo would know. He would know it wasn’t me. Just because she wore a glamour didn’t mean she understood the intricacies of my body and mind.
He pulled back, and I stared at him hopefully when his eyes flashed confusion. He looked down at Juliette, silent and assessing.
“Are you okay?” he asked.
He knew. He knew something was wrong.
“It’s not me. You know it’s not me,” I said to him, willing him to see the truth in the mirror. Willing him to seeme.
“Mmhmm. I’m ready for bed now.” Juliette stretched like a cat, snuggling against Kylo until his confusion melted away.
“Of course, baby.”
They disappeared. The wrathful scream that left me was inhuman, pure beast. My collar heated until it was scalding, damaging the sensitive flesh beneath.
And I didn’t care.
I picked up a nearby vase, and I bludgeoned the mirror, over and over again until it was nothing but shards.
The last thing that left my lips before Aster and Conrad burst in with a set of guards was a demented, strangled vow.
“I’m going to kill that wretched psycho bitch and puthereyes in a fucking jar!”

KYLO
“Coffee?” I asked.
Evie tilted her head. “What do you think?”
