The bed dips, and I smell him before I feel him.
“I’m so fucking sorry, baby,” Liam whispers, tone broken and helpless. “I was supposed to protect you. I promised you nothing would hurt you. And I fucking failed you.” His hand softly runs down my head. “I’m going to make it up to you. I’m going to work day and night to make sure no one is able to hurt you again.” He’s quiet for a moment, and I'm about to be sucked back into sleep when he says, “Even if that means I have to protect you from myself.”
Chapter 9
A whimper rips from my throat as I wake from my sleep. A stabbing pain splinters through my abdomen, causing me to curl in on myself.
The pain is so bad, I feel like I’m dying.
“Ally?” Skyler’s soft, groggy voice sounds from my doorway. “Ally, are you okay?”
“No.” A small sob slips free. “It hurts. It hurts so bad.”
“Shit, I’m coming in,” Skyler warns. “Holy fuck,” he groans.
Forcing my heavy eyes open, I look towards the door. Skyler is standing there, his hand over his mouth, this feral look in his eyes. “What’s wrong?” I whimper.
“Ally,” he grinds out. “Babe... you’re in heat.”
“No.” I close my eyes, shaking my head. “I can’t be. Not now.”
“What’s going on?” Tyson asks from behind Skyler.
“Do not go in there!” Skyler barks, making me whine. “Shit. Sorry, Ally. Fuck.”
“Is she okay?” Tyson asks, then curses a moment later. “Fuck, I can smell her perfume from here.”
“She’s in heat,” Skyler explains. “Ally, I’m gonna close the door for now, and go get Liam, okay?”
“Don’t leave me!” I cry out, panic seeping in.
“We’re not going anywhere, okay. We just want to respect your boundaries, and babe, as much as we’ve said we’ve never wanted you in a sexual way, my alpha side is saying fuck all that and go in there and rut you. Seeing how I’d rather die than take advantage of you like that, we’re going to put some space between us so we can figure out what to do with clearer minds, okay?”
“Okay.” My lower lip wobbles.
I’m not fully gone; my mind is still my own for the most part. But I try not to be offended that they don’t want anything to do with me.
That's the Omega in me seeping through. I know what they’re doing is the right thing.
I’m not sure how long they’re gone, but every moment is agony.
I’m too hot. Too sweaty. I need to cool down.
Forcing myself to get up, I crawl out of bed and to the shower. The pain in my stomach comes in waves. And the slick... there’s so much slick.
I can’t be in heat. I’m not ready. I’m not prepared. This can’t be happening right now.
“Ally?” Ryker’s voice sounds from somewhere in the bus. “What are you doing?”
Ignoring him, I stumble my way into the bathroom. My fingers claw at my clothes, needing to rid my body of them. They’re suffocating me. I can’t breathe.
Thankfully, I’m only in sleep clothes, so it doesn’t take long for me to get naked. I’m not sure who changed me, but I don’t remember falling asleep in them.
Turning the cold water to full blast, I drop to my ass on the floor of the shower and let the water rain down over me.
It’s a nice relief, making my body relax a little.
“Shit,” Ryker hisses. “You’re not good. Not good at all. Just hold on, okay? Skyler and Tyson went to get Liam. Everything is going to be okay.”
