“He sounds like a cocky somebody. Someone who acts all big but backs down when someone stands up to him.”

“That’s exactly how he is. I felt sorry for the woman who was with him. I knew he was drinking. Declan said he hopes he catches him driving drunk.”

“He doesn’t like him at all, does he?”

“Stephen’s wife was a good friend of Declan’s. They dated for a while and that’s why Stephen hates him, even though nothing happened after she married Stephen. Declan even went to their wedding.” Elise shook her head. “Stephen has a problem.”

“Yes, and it could get worse since you’re now dating Declan after you went out with Stephen.”

“I hope not, but you could be right. He said I dropped him so I could go out with Declan. I didn’t. I had already stopped seeing him when Declan asked me out.”

“Elise, you need to be careful. I don’t like the sound of any of this.”

“I know. He scares me.”

“Declan can’t be around you twenty-four seven.”

Elise smirked. “It would be nice if he could.”

“Oh, you have it bad,” Brandy said with a giggle.

“I know.”Elise sighed. “I just hope he has it as bad for me.”

“He rarely takes his eyes off you when he’s here.”

“He’s such a good man, Brandy. I don’t want to lose him.”

“Why would you lose him?”

“I don’t have much luck with men.”

“Well, maybe this time will be different.”

“Maybe. I suppose we should get to the rooms and get our little ballet dancers busy.”

Brandy nodded, then they both walked along the hall and into separate rooms. Elise hoped she heard from Declan today.

Declan strode along the hallway toward his office, with Tank on a leash behind him, then stopped in front of Sam’s office.

“Good morning, Sam.”

“Morning. Hey, I need you to go to the Hancock ranch and talk to Mr. Hancock.”

“About what?”

Sam slid a sheet of paper across the desk. “I’d do it but I’m up to my neck in paperwork.”

Declan picked the sheet up and scanned it. “Shit. Alright, Sam. I’ll go now. Damn.”

“Part of the job, Declan.”

“Worst part as far as I’m concerned.”

“I agree. I’d like you to do that before your rounds.”

“I’m on it, Sam. See you later.”
