Everyone sat quietly, listening to Cypher recount what Ains had told him about her conversation with Linstrom.

“Should’ve figured this wasn’t over,” Scythe said with a scowl.

“Why?” Jury asked. “How the hell were we supposed to know there were more of them?”

“‘Cause shitheads like that are like cockroaches,” I pointed out, “there are always more of them hiding somewhere.”

“I want Linstrom,” Pyre said, focusing on Cypher.

Everyone fell quiet at that. Pyre was slowly getting back to being himself. As much as he could when his family was the one who’d been impacted the most by Linstrom coming to Sentinel.

Cypher sighed. “That’s going to be a bit harder, Pyre. He’s in police custody. And as much as I want to give him to you, I don’t want to make an enemy of our new sheriff.”

“They have to take him back to Cheyenne at some point,” Demo pointed out. “We could hit the transport. Make sure no deputies are hurt in the process.”

“Actually, it would be one of the Cheyenne PD picking him up and transporting him,” I told the group. “They have more available resources and Ainsley mentioned that they brought him down in the first place. They’ll be picking him up, too.”

Cypher thought about that for a moment, then nodded. “Then we’ll take him from Cheyenne PD and he’ll be yours Pyre.”

“Thanks, Prez,” Pyre said, his eyes hard and cold.

I didn’t envy Mike Linstrom in any way. Pyre was going to end up dicing that motherfucker up like a frog in a high school science class. But the fucker deserved it. Between associating with men like the Dolan brothers and drinking so much he couldn’t drive in a straight line and ended up killing an innocent kid, he was going to get everything he had coming for him. He probably already thought his life couldn’t get worse. He was so fucking wrong.

“So are we going after Mark Dolan?” Glitch asked.

“We should,” Rotor replied. “Go for him before he comes for us.”

“You think he will?” Cynic asked.

“Yeah,” Scythe answered. “He will. We cost him his brother and all of Sentinel’s drug money revenue. He’ll be wanting payback, and to restart things out here. It’s just a matter of when.”

“That’s after he finds out what happened. Which he will, eventually. He’s likely scrambling around trying to figure out where his brother is and that’s going to keep him busy for a short time,” Cypher said.

“Not to mention having to deal with his drugs on his own now,” I added.

“We’ve got a few things to take care of ourselves,” Cypher told us. “We’ll take a week, get everything situated, then we go after the rest of the Iron Circle Crew. Any objections?”

There was silence in the room. No one had a problem with that. We were all eager to wipe them off the face of the earth.

“Good,” Cypher said. “I expect all of you to be on time tonight. Cindy’s been nice enough to invite all you assholes over and feed you. I expect you to prove you have some type of manners, if only for one night.” He eyed all of us, staring extra hard at me.

“My mother knows exactly what I’m like,” I told him.

“Doesn’t mean you can’t hold it together for one fucking night, Warrant.”

“Fine,” I said with a grin. My dad had given me the same lecture this morning over the phone.

“Dismissed,” Cypher told us and watched as we all filed out of his meeting room.

I was sure he was going to pour over everything Ains and Glitch had found on the Dolan brothers before getting ready for the party tonight. He’d given us a week to handle our shit before we waded back into war, but knowing Cypher that week was so that he could plan.

The man was a big fan of planning out missions before starting them. He liked shit to be organized. I understood it even though I thrived in chaos. If he had every avenue secured, every box ticked off there was less that could go wrong. Cypher’s biggest concern was always his men and our well-being. It was why any one of us would give our lives for him.

I left church and went down the hall to Ainsley’s new office. Watching her read Cypher’s letter of employment this morning had been entertaining. Her eyes had widened when she’d gotten to the bit about compensation.

He’d already set her up with her own office here and had started her on digging more into Mark Dolan. I wanted to see if I could distract her and maybe christen her new office. Images of bending her over that desk were flashing through my mind. We had some time before the barbecue at my parents’ place tonight and I wanted to cause some chaos.

“I’m sohappy that you’re going to be a part of our family!” Mom said, folding Ainsley into a hug.
