Perfect ran a few more errands before he made his way back to the home he shared with Brook’Lynn and prepared himself to walk inside. He took a deep breath when he opened the door, but he was much calmer this time. He wasn’t even surprised when he saw Wise sitting there with her, knowing that Brook’Lynn was gonna have somebody around who could back her story up. What really shocked him was seeing them side by side for the first time and noticing the resemblance.Damn, they look alike,he thought to himself.

Brook’Lynn sat there looking pretty as ever, as her skin glowed. She wore a pretty white sundress and her breasts sat up perfectly in it. They looked extra big and delicious to Perfect. He noticed that she picked up a little weight, but it looked good on her; he liked it. He took off his hat and sat across from them. “So, what’s up?” He looked at his Cartier on his wrist. He’d been cleaning up a mess for the past couple of days and he was exhausted.

“What up bruh?” Wise gave Perfect a pound as they greeted each other.

“Assalamalualaikum,” Perfect replied. He had no problem with Wise at all; he’d always been a solid dude, “I’m all ears.”

Brook’Lynn stared at him, wanting to do nothing more than apologize and wrap her arms around him. The island had done him well. He was already fine before he left, but instead of him being light-skinned, he had a little bronze tan going on.

“Baby,” Brook’Lynn said, “I want you to be open-minded to what I’m about to tell you and please just hear me out about before you storm off and leave me again. I lost you once and that was the hardest four months of my life. I don’t know if I could take feeling like that again.”

“I didn’t leave you by choice Brook’Lynn… you know that.”

“That’s not how it felt though,” she said with soft tears rolling down her face. She hated that the pregnancy had her so emotional. “You neglected me, Perfect.”

He shook his head and spoke in that deep smooth voice that drove her crazy. “Nah ma, I’d never do that.” He stood up and hugged her. “Stop crying man.”

She gently pushed him away from her and wiped her face. “Let me explain… please.”

“Go ahead sis,” Wise encouraged her. “He needs to know.”

“Being that this shit is about Rasta and all, do I need to get C2 on speakerphone?”

Brook’Lynn looked to Wise for validation. He nodded his head. “It’s only fair.”

Perfect got his brother on the phone. “You free?” he asked him.

“Frustrated like hell man,” he said calmly. “I just wish that Kema would leave me the fuck alone. Bitch acting possessed and shit. She ain’t appreciate a nigga when she had me… but what up?”

“Aiight… I’m with Brook’Lynn and Wise. I got you on speaker phone, so just listen to the convo.”

“Go ahead,” C2 told him, wondering what was up.

For the next hour or so, Brook’Lynn… with the assistance of Wise, told him everything about Rasta and the visit with Ms. Fiona and the whole nine. She didn’t leave anything out, no questions unanswered, or anything that left the imagination going wild. She told him everything; let it all out along withher tears. They showed him the birth certificates and everything else… they even got Ms. Fiona on the phone, who was able to briefly talk but because she didn’t really like talking over the phones, she didn’t stay on long.

C2, who was in shock, was still on the phone not saying a word, while Perfect looked as though all the color had drained from his skin; he was now pale as hell. No man… and he meant NO MAN, would ever want to think some shit like that about their father. Their mother was the only woman that they knew, and after her, he never got serious or brought a woman around as his girlfriend. He wanted to curse both of them the fuck out and call them some liars, but he knew just from looking at them that they were telling the truth. They looked more embarrassed than anything. He had to put his feelings to the side and think about Brook’Lynn’s feelings for the moment. He could only imagine how hard it must’ve been for her.

Seeing the tears build up in her eyes again, he walked up and stood over her while looking down, as he hung up on C2. “Baby, don’t cry.”

“It’s so hard,” she sniffed.

He said it again. “Baby, don’t cry… don’t cry.” He bent down and kissed her cheek where the tears were falling. He knew she did some fucked up shit, but he also knew that she thought what she was doing was coming from a good place. A woman’s thought process about certain shit was just all fucked up sometimes.

“I’ma give ya’ll a minute. I think she got something else to tell you.” Wise said while standing up, walking outside to smoke his joint. The tension in the air was too much for him and he was ready to get some fresh air before he fucked around and shed a few tears.

Perfect grabbed Brook’Lynn by her hands to pull her up and to him, pulling her close to hug her. “What’s wrong? When did you turn into such a cry baby ma?”

She shook her head, wondering if she should even tell him about the baby or not. “I know I fucked up and I’m sorry baby, but you know I’d never do anything to intentionally risk our relationship. You know we all we got; I love the shit out of you.” She continued to cry, hating that she couldn’t stop.

The sincerity of her words pulled on his heart in a way he’d never felt. He was still pissed, but he found it hard to treat her like shit. “What did you want to tell me?” Besides finding out that his entire life in what he’d known it to be was an entire lie, he wasn’t sure if he could take anything else, but he braced himself for it anyway.

“You love me?” she asked, looking up at him with those beautiful almond shaped eyes.

“More than life itself,” he confessed.

She backed up from him a little and lifted her flaring dress, so he could see her stomach. “I’m pregnant,” she said while biting down on her bottom lip, waiting for his response.

Perfect stood back and examined her protruding belly; it wasn’t big, but it was definitely showing. The joy he felt in his heart at the moment quickly replaced any anger he was harboring inside of his heart. Truth was, he wanted to put a bullet through Brody’s and Rasta’s head… but he wasn’t so sure if he wanted those demons to follow him for the rest of his life.
