“Hey.” He pulled her over him, got his arm around her, and kissed her again. “Yeh, we do date models sometimes. And you’re hotter.”
“Luka.” She tried to laugh. “I am not.”
“How many women have tied me up?” he asked. “None, that’s how many. You’re hotter, sorry. That bangin’ body, and then the whole surgeon thing, the brilliance and all. And I think you should get that kit off, cuddle with me naked so I can feel you up a bit more, and go to sleep. You have to work in the morning. Have to save some lives.”
“I’m leaving Webster again,” she said, but she wasn’t going anywhere.
“Maybe you should bring Webster over here in the morning. I’ll be home heaps more than you will, especially if you’re going to be on call.”
She tried to think of a reason that wouldn’t work. “The dog walker?”
“Text the dog walker. You might tell her I’m not as scary as I look, though. I met her. She seemed a bit put off.”
“So Webster and I are just hanging out over here, huh? For how long?”
“Long as it works. Why not? You’re not home much anyway. Just long enough for dinner and sex and sleep, and maybe those squash lessons I promised you. Works for me. Also, I’ll actually have groceries. And no horrible dolls.”
“Luka.” Once again, she was trying to laugh. “Have you ever lived with anyone?”
“No. Other than Piper, of course, but that’s a long time ago.”
“Neither have I. Well, roommates, obviously, during residency. What makes you think we know how?”
“I don’t,” he said. “But I think we should see if we can learn. The days go by, eh. Time to learn.”
