“It has been, but it feels like it’s been building for a while. I think this time is like a universal cleansing.”

Freedom laughs. “The men here have been getting progressively worse. It’s like a fucking volcano was building and it finally erupted. A little strange at times, but you’re in love and that’s new to you, so everything looks odd.”

I nod. “How do you know this shit? I just figured it out today.Andisn’t that the weirdest thing to happen yet?”

They laugh pulling me out so I don’t have to hear my employees laughing.

“Dana signed up for classes. She’s trying, Seren,” Freedom says sitting in the passenger seat.

“I saw it. She’s determined. Sammy’s all over it so she should be fine. The woman looked me in the eyes and saidI need a job. You could have warned me.”

They laugh, lately everyone laughs at me. “I know why it feels weird. More people are talking to me. Not just talking, but real conversational interaction is taking place.”

Victory puts her hand on my shoulder and squeezes. Freedom thinks about it and smiles when I look over. “You’re right. If you would have had a first love in middle school like the rest of us, you’d have had that sooner.”

What? “You think people are talking to me because I’m in love? Let me point out that the free love thing isn’t me. It’s weird to normal peoplelikeme.”

The sigh from the back seat has me mentally bracing. “You’re twenty-four, slept with two guys,in college. One you had to get wasted for. Opening those sculpted legs may have opened your aura...”

“It could be the Norse God. Since he planted himself in front of you, the connection was made. He gets shit done, like you, but he’s loud and obnoxious with it. He makes points that are good and need to be made, but he does it in a way that has people listening. He spent ten minutes talking on a mic and changed the whole fucking town’s outlook. He shot Greg within a few sentences and walked away. Jimmy is missing. The same point but he makes shit happen around him fast, like ripping off a bandaid. Hosing the asshole is a perfect example. He fucking walked away.”

I nod taking our exit. “He has a mission. Like my dad but a biker. I see it in all the crazy shit he does. I spent years with people acting weird around me. He changed that within a few hours. His Brothers were talking to me on the first day.”

Victory laughs. “So maybe you just needed Cort. The universe is talking to you. Pay attention.”

I laugh pulling into the steak house. “I don’t have much of a choice now do I?”

With a satisfied nod, she gets out. “It’s about time that you see it.”

Freedom laughs following me in.

Hade, Major and Jordan are set for tomorrow. Adrenaline is flowing through me and I need an outlet. Waiting sucks. I’m glad I’m not in a hotel room waiting, but being with my Brothers while they clean our mess wouldn’t be so bad.

I purposely came home knowing the Officers will be pacing Ops. Guilt is a funny emotion. Letting them think this was easy by sitting around drinking at the Club or bar would hurt me more than help. With them sweating the outcome, they’ll remember it for a lifetime.

Because I’m being a dick about it, I’m pacing the house alone. I wish, whatever President, never put the hundred-mile clause in the bible. Never thinking it would pertain to me, I didn’t touch it. Our new bible is clean of all the shit past President’s thought was important. Amendments are a pain in the ass to get a quorum on. Brothers don’t give a shit about wording for all possible contingencies in a future they can’t imagine. I’m a prime example of why it’s important to get that wording right. Crow followed our bible to a T but never added to it. I should have asked him about cleaning it up. Hindsight. I smile thinking of his lessons on moving forward.

Heeding that advice, I sit on the porch and tell him about my day. It was another good day. Jinx fucking yelled at me. I laugh knowing I deserved it. Ant Irma and Ajhil are staying in the hospital but nothing is life-threatening. At least to them. Dumbass Dave hasn’t been found yet and I know the space will play in our favor. Tomorrow is the start of our new beginning making Badass easier to see. Since it all looks good from here, I get up to find food.

Seren found the opener I put on her visor making me smile. The garage door goes back down as I’m pulling the skillet out of the oven. It smells good. I drop it on the wooden cutting board and grab a fork and two waters. I get the perfect mix of potato, onion and bacon dripping with egg yolk on my fork when she walks in.

She’s in thin black leggings and a sports bra and my fork drops in the skillet. “It smells like IHOP in here. I wish I would have waited to eat.” She’s smiling and the light hits her eyes showing that happiness as I stalk over to her.

“I’m just eating now.” Taking her bag off her shoulder I drop it. Her bra falls on top of it.

She laughs. “You like the workout clothes.”

“No.” Ripping the leggings, I pull what’s left of them down, sliding her sneakers off. The leggings follow right behind them as I growl at her panties.

Lifting her up, I carry her to the table and knock the chair out of my way so I can lay her down. She’s giggling, but I ignore it getting on my knees and eating. The giggle turns into moaning making this the best meal I’ve had yet. She’s got the sound and my hair being pulled by her hands. My eyes seeing that sexy fucking grind she does. My fingers feeling her wet and her taste and scent in my mouth and nose. She hit every course I want and I just started. Life is good.

Her jerky motions have me focusing, with fingers rolling her nipple, she’s yanking my hair causing my dick to jump. Everything flows south and I’m on her getting squeezed like her pussy is a vise. “So fucking good, little Kram. Let me in, move those fucking hips for me.”
