“Nope. If you want him to sleep, call me. I’ll drone on about my day and he’ll be down for at least an hour.”
“Thanks, I may need that when he starts getting fussy. Harmony says it starts soon.” She takes him, kisses my cheek and walks toward the bedrooms.
“Thanks, Raid. She needs time away but doesn’t trust anyone else with him. Where’s Hade?”
I shrug. “Went to call Freedom right after you left. He hasn’t come back in. Me and Caelan hung out on the porch.” I look in the back but don’t see him. “He must have walked home.”
He shakes his head and hands me a beer. I follow back to the porch. “Whatever you said must have worked. I tried, but he was set on her being too dangerous, or whatever the fuck he was trying to make work for him.”
“He’s looking for an excuse. He knows she’s good.”
He smiles sitting on the couch. “You never miss a thing, Brother.”
“I do, but I get most of them right so the little shit is forgotten or not noticed. Was Web happy you found the papers?”
He shakes his head. “I don’t think he knows what it meant that Ididn’thave them and the As were right there so I wasn’t telling him. He doesn’t need it.” He looks at the water and I think about that. Details we don’t need seem to be a theme today.
“You want to go to the Club?”
I shake my head no. “How about a ride?”
He stands up. “Yeah. I could use one. Let me just tell Seren.”
I put my beer back in the fridge. I never opened it.
