Cort nods. “How about I get you an Ops Control today and we can train someone for you. You have the IT.”

“I could use it. I almost lost an Enforcer, Cort. It had nothing to do with anyone but me. I’m called for every fucking thing and lost my focus. I shouldn’t have turned away. Whoever was watching saved my Brother. Thank them for me.” Fuck, he’s stressed.

“I can pull your Ops here until you settle either construction or the room issues. I don’t want you losing anyone either. Tell me what will work for you.”

Jordan looks to his side then back. “Can you take Ops and train my Controls then a couple for shifts? We have four, but the city has more going on than we’re used to. My Controls are working non-stop.”

“Fuck, Jordan. Send the Controls over and we’ll take your Ops. We can train them right in Ops. Send four for your shifts and we’ll train them too.”

“Thank fuck you’re Badass. I can’t do this alone.”

“Jordan, from the minute we jumped in together, you haven’t been alone. Let me know what you need. We’re here and open to run.”

Web steps behind the station with a paper that says IT.

“While I have you needing from me. We need IT and two for HR. Do you have that?”

Jordan perks up. “Yeah, I have an HR that did hourly for Security and IT Brothers coming out my ears. I’ll find a second HR for you, but the one I have is actually yours. He was interested in moving but wasn’t sure you were settled. The Brothers name is Mendoza. We don’t have all the businesses you do so he’s filling in anywhere he can.”

Cort smiles. “Send who you can. Not to make your life more stressful, but think about a transport company. We’re paying freight for everything we send back and forth. I’d rather pay you than whoever jumps on a bid.”

Jordan looks interested. “It would keep the Brothers working. I will. Let me get on the Brothers headed your way so they make it tonight. I need a fucking drink for the Brother Hade saved before anything else hits.”

Cort laughs. “Have one for me, Brother. We have your Ops starting now. I’m out.”

“Hade, get Ops staffed for the city Club starting now. He’ll have Controls here by tomorrow.”

“Roger, Boss.”

“Web, you’ll get your IT. Raid, let Lorelei know she’s got at least one experienced HR coming.”

“Roger, Boss.” Fucking great. “Hade, do you need me in here for a shift?”

He shakes his head no. “I’ll take an extra and we have Control trainees that are just about finished with Brinks. They need Ops time so I’ll use them.”

“Roger.”

I make my feet move and take the long walk across the building, then up the stairs. Walking in has VPs coming my way. I throw chin and knock on Lorelei’s door.

When I open it, she’s smiling, then she’s not. I put my hands up. “I’m just letting you know we have one experienced Brother coming from the city Club to fill a position. He knows Security, hours and billing.”

She nods and smiles. “Thanks. I have no idea on Security and the person filling in doesn’t either. He’s just watching time.”

“I’m having lunch with Leo. Freedom said he had a hard night.”

Tears hit her eyes and she nods. “Thank you. He’ll like that.”

With a nod, I’m out the door. Friends is good. Fuck, this sucks. She needs to just ask for help so we can move on to whatever is next. I missed her sitting by me, holding my hand while we talk. The way her eyes crinkle at the corner when she laughs or squints when she is trying to be intimidating. That was our time, alone time. Fucking women. I’m standing in front of the stairs thinking about a woman that doesn’t want me right now. Putting my thumb on the pad I smile. Right now looks like it’s changing. She was smiling. Maybe my ruby is ready to shine.

Checking time, I have forty-five minutes until Leo is eating lunch. I pull my phone and hit the Prospects desk. “VP.”

“Find out what I need to eat lunch with Leo. He’s in...”

“The back. He’s with his bike, VP.”

“How long has he been here?”

“About forty minutes, I called Patcher when I saw him, but Patcher is helping Doc. He said to keep his bike from running and watch him.”
