“Yeah, So. Nothing is going on today. Watch surveillance around the Clubs in case of blowback, but I’m not seeing that happening right away. Web, try for numbers on bodies and their members. We’ll get a better idea from that about what kind of blowback we may see.” He stands up.“I’ll be back in an hour.” He walks out and everyone is laughing.

I shake my head. “Jesus fuck. That was over music.”

“It’s how he keeps connected, his constant. Growing up, riding, at the Club, the music is the only thing that’s never changed. His mom always danced for Reed. He lost her, then Crow, then his dad and Jules. He needs the music to keep them close like we need him. It’s his constant. Maybe not today, but the rest of the time, he’s always the same. We count on that like he counts on the music.”

“Thanks, Brinks. It makes all that a little easier to see. He’s fucking tough. I wonder how Seren got him to eat something besides steak and breakfast for dinner.”

They laugh. “Does anyone have anything that needs to be handled today?”

“You haven’t opened your email, have you?”Falcon asks. I shake my head no.

“We got support emails too. We need someone writing a response. Maybe put a page with the Clubs showing support on the website,” Hade says.

I put it on my tablet. “Web?”

“I have the members and body count. None of them have much to come back at us with. He leveled the Clubs close. Six-Guns had a fire. Mexico needs new wiring in one and an electrical fire happened in the other. The news is playing them gathering and bringing the fight to us. Well, all the Clubs. I don’t know that anyone would see a reason for retaliation when it ended up that they planned a war and got their asses kicked. They came to us. The news shows good for us because we kept them out of civilian areas.”

“Good. I’ll let him know when he gets back. Maybe he’ll be calmer.”

They laugh.“You do good with him, VP. I’ve never heard you yell at him. The last Brother got shot,” Falcon says.

I shrug. “I need to yell at him when he’s going off. If he shoots me, he shoots me, but I owe it to Phoenix to get him seeing clear.” I laugh. “Even if I’m shot over music. Just make sure he uses the laser. Don’t ever let him put me in a fucking dish.”

They’re laughing. “Anything else that can’t wait?”

No one has anything. “Banks, do you have time to call Roger and find out what space he needs or if it’s just more building?”

“Yeah, VP. I got nothing today but the junkyard. I’ll see what else they need too.”

“Jinx, you’re sure about the liquor and print that’s not turned over yet?”

He nods telling me he is with his smile. “Yeah, Boss. We got some good managers coming up.”

“I need someone on the phone for him that isn’t going to fold. Any ideas?”

Mounty gives me a new Brother. I type it in so I can check him out.

“I’ll get your response right away so you can get to your jobs. Web, get everyone an email address that they can forward the support email to. We’ll need the names for the website. Do that right away.”

“Roger, VP.”

“Let’s get to work, Brothers.”

I walk out smiling. Fucking music. I bet that’s why she used it for the game. I need help to get a song I can use. I need to get to Seren too. The music is important to Cort and she may not have the reason.

He’s crazy. “You held him overnight?” I ask as he cuffs the dick to the portico column.

He gives me a look. “You see him, don’t you? We need to deliver him to the Sheriff.”

“That’s two towns away, Cort. You can’t put him in a satellite dish and pull him on the fucking highway.”I get another look.

“Horn had something from a smoker he said I could use. The dish would fall apart. I had him weld me a bracket so I can hook the chain on it. I got flagging tape for the chain this time.”

Jesus. “Okay then.” I just know we’re getting arrested for this one. It’s been a while for us. I call Hade. “Hade, get bail money ready and have someone show for us.”

He’s laughing. “Where from? You’re still in the building.”
