Sonofabitch. Fuck. He’s a Security Brother. When was he put on the Little Brothers?
I pull my phone and call Beacon. “The watcher’s name?”
“Razor...”
I don’t need more. “Thanks.” I need to talk to the Officers. I am not doing this again. Amos doesn’t like him, but didn’t say a word. Jesus.
“Ready, Daniel?”
He smiles at me. “If you get on your bike, I will be.”
“Smartass.”

“Oh, Seren asked if I’d watch Caelan. I told her we would so she can go for a ride.”
Daniel laughs and I give him a look stopping that quick. “That’s a good thing because Dad didn’t want a Brother he doesn’t trust watching him.”
Lorelei smiles. “That’s a good policy to have.”
“Are you going to have a baby?”
I almost choke on my beer. Lorelei’s eyes are shining at me. “Not right now, Daniel. The doctor said it will be a few years before my bones are ready for a baby.”
Shit. He looks like I took his bike away. “I want a brother or sister, but not more than you. I can wait.”
Lorelei is blinking back tears. I smile at Daniel. “That was a nice thing to say. I can wait too. I love babies, but I love your mom more. I get to learn about being a dad with you, so I’ll have it perfected for the new kid when it happens.”
He laughs. I love this kid. “You’re almost as good as mom now. You’ll be ready when the baby comes. I can help too, so you’ll have extra hands when you need them, Dad. We got this.” Almost as good?
Lorelei isn’t fighting tears anymore. I roll my eyes at the laugh she’s trying to cover with her hand. “Thanks, Daniel, you’ll be a good big brother.”
He nods like it’s settled. Fucking kids.
