They both look at me. I shrug. “Our schedules have been crazy the last few days.”
“I have been keeping everyone busy. Take tomorrow off, Brother.”
VP laughs at him. “You’re presenting him to the Club and we have a party right after.”
Cort swings his head. “Huh, you’ll have to make time in there, Brother. We got shit going on all week.”
I nod. “Yeah. Something happened with Victory. She’ll need time to deal with that too.”
“That’s going to hurt. Moving to a commune is just weird, but it’s so Victory.” VP says words, but it takes my brain a second to get it, a commune?
What? “Victory is moving?”
They’re both surprised and Doc laughs. “She is, Brother. You really haven’t talked?” VP asks like I’m lying to him.
“No. I saw her for five minutes this morning then at the pool. She keeps saying she has a lot to tell me, but we never have time to actually talk.”
Cort laughs. “We’ll find you time, Brother. You need to talk to your ol’ lady. It’s not happening next week so we’ll make it happen.”
We set down and I take the boy with two names from Allen. He carries the pole behind me and we wait to see the genetic guy. Web comes down with Freedom and she takes the boy from me. “What’s his name?”
I look at Cort. He nods for me to make the call. “Roman. VP has Radimir and Cort has Rostya.”
“Russian. Thank fuck, we know this one.”
We all look at Web. I learned languages for the military. I smile at him. He learned them for the kids. “I know it too. It was a requirement.”
He nods. “Thanks. What’s wrong with them?”
Doc tells him and I stand behind Freedom putting an arm around her. She leans back and I know she’s holding her tears in. This won’t be our night either.
