Driver: “Roger, Boss. They covered our asses, we’ll cover theirs.”
“Brinks, they’re coming from behind. Get Enforcers not engaged out of the line of fire and away from the explosives going off. Keep our cover to the sides.”
Brinks: “Roger, Aerial.” He talks to his Teams.
I watch Driver shoot the bikers in lines, the fucking Brother knows his chopper.
Driver: “Phoenix One, clear.”
“Nicely done, Phoenix One. Set back and keep the ground Teams covered.”
Driver: “Roger, Boss. Jester, gunners are running cover for ground.”
Jester: “Roger, Driver. Gunners standing readied for cover on ground Teams.
“Anton?”
Anton: “Clear, Boss.”
“Keep watch until they’re clear.”
Anton: “Roger, Boss.”
“Brinks?”
Brinks: “Cleanup and fire are on their way. Highway is held by HPD. Security is running ten down looking for stragglers. Enforcer Teams One and Two are heading back and Three is standing readied on cover.”
“Roger, Brinks.”
“Cort?”
Cort: “HPD thanks you. Enforcers and Security from the city limits are heading back. The first bikes and bodies are already cleared.” He didn’t give me an order. He’s the room Lead.
I smile at him. “Roger, Boss. Do you want the chopper to cover cleanup?”
Cort: “No, they’ll have Enforcer Team Three to cover them.”
“Roger, Boss. Anton, I need a flight plan for return flight. Kroger, do we have any alerts?”
Kroger: “No alerts, Boss. Fuel for return is fine.”
I look at the screen and Anton has the flight plan up. “Phoenix One, ready for flight. Your flight plan is logged.”
Driver: “Roger, Boss. Phoenix One, ready for flight.”
I hit my mic off while Jester answers and orders guns in and gear stowed. I relax. It went perfect. Except for questioning orders. I watch until they’re turned and rising.
“Anton, stay with the chopper until it sets down. You’re watching for alerts.”
He pulls the chopper control panel to his lower screen. “Roger, Boss.”
“Kroger, thanks for jumping in. When everyone is up and comfortable with the choppers, we won’t need a second set of eyes on the mechanics of them.”
“Roger, Boss. I’m here when you need me.”
“Thanks, Brother.”
I move to the center with Cort and Brinks. “Thanks, Brinks. They did great with the chopper. I’m glad we had the cover team.”
