“Bend so I can kiss your sexy face.” He does and I do. “I’m glad you’re happy.”

His arm goes around me and pulls me close. “I’m glad you are too.”

“Definitely happy.” I smell burning. “Fuck!” I turn and run to the stove.

“That didn’t last long.”He makes me laugh.

I pull the extra crispy garlic bread out of the oven and put it on top of the burnt saucepan. “How do you feel about subs for dinner?”

“I like it. Are we eating in or out?”

“They can deliver and we can eat at the lake. By then, it will be full dark and I can open some windows letting the smell out of the house.”

He smiles. “Sounds like a plan. I’m glad we’re moving, this place stinks.” He’s in a good mood. It’s not like he’s a pain in the ass, but seeing him happy makes me happy.

“Order dinner. I’ll clean this up.”

“Yes, mylo’u alofa.”

“Hmmm, maybe I’ll get a song out of you tonight.”

He stops typing and looks at me. “What do I get?”

I smile batting my eyelashes at him. “Whatever the fuck you want.”

“What song?”

I laugh. “Order dinner. We can play after we eat and I get my song by the lake with the Badass lights shining across it.”

“Okay.” He’s so easy.

While Ranger meets Doc, I stay at the table. He told me to wait here making me think he feels like I’m being put out for the time it takes to put shit on him.

A couple of Club chicks come out and sit with me. They’re glad Chris is gone. She moved to C. I don’t say a word. They’ll probably be talking to her next month wondering why she isn’t here. When they ask about Hade, I wonder why they’d ask me.

“We were done before I met Ranger. I didn’t talk to him about anything but work.”

“A momma from the city said he never showed there.” Trixie is looking for information.

I shrug, but I’m thinking he shot Rex. Cort isn’t known for leniency. “Maybe he didn’t think the city was far enough. The Clubs are joined.”

“You don’t think something happened?”

I shake my head. “You think everything that did happen isn’t enough? I was done with him and didn’t talk to him when he was here. It’s not like you call and talk to exes for weekly updates.”

Sarah nods. “I never call exes. Done is done.”

“Good advice.”

I’m smiling before I turn. “That was fast. This is Sarah and Trixie.”

Sarah smiles at him pissing me off. “You’re the SAA for Falcon. Thanks for keeping Bruce in line.”

Shit. I’m turning into a jealous bitch for nothing. I smile as Ranger sits. “No problem. If it becomes one let Beacon know.”

“We will.”
