I shake my head and scan the chip for my partners. They all must be on this one so I follow the chip tracking to the choppers.

Oklahoma Club

Shadow missed out on this one but I got Zeus and a whole enhanced K-9 team. Mase said it’s not normal for Zeus to run his own Ops but I got my own shit to do. Shadow and Light run Ops and I’ve seen the enhanced K-9s, they’re not squirrel chasers or eating bees daily. I rethink that. Loki is a little off when he’s not working and Shadow said Harky won't let him have a laser yet.

The loud bark has me turning to the partner I’d hand my own gun over to. Light’s showing his plan on a hologram board. It’s just objective and looks suspiciously like an old plan from Belarus.

Checking the operative list for the team we have, I get them settled in my head and look for Light to acknowledge but he’s not there. He’s running intel for Zeus right now so I don’t bother him. He’s such a geek. His furry grin behind my eyes makes me laugh drawing the handler’s eyes.

I shrug and get to reading the objective and our own plan for the two-legged partners today. I have seven K-9s, two handlers and Circuit on IT for us. Zeus is on the Club, we’re outside until it’s clear. The Club has been BSC for two months but is under attack from some Aryan biker gang that’s definitely not Badass but they ride. They have a problem with everything the Club promotes according to the shit Light pulled up. Circuit says they’re victims of everything from fixed roads to vaccines. They have someone as an officer inside that’s making plays for the top job and turning equal into equal only if…

I knew enough not to ask. I just read about the bank that is whining about no government bailout while giving money to politicians voting to stop FEMA help to tornado disaster areas. The bank could work with communities and stop screwing them. It reminds me of the water from our first job today. Billionaire victims don’t work in my head. I shake that head and focus.

“Brothers, we got the outside redirection of the gang with help from the BSC Club if needed. It shouldn’t be needed. This is black label. Any intel you get goes to IT so Ops can shut them down at the source. Handlers, assist however you can, stay safe, stay connected and get everything you find, or your partners give you, tagged for IT. No breathers, no trace. Club trucks are running the fence lines so there’s always a ride close for the partners. Watch their backs and they’ll watch yours.”

In unison, a Hooyah and bark answers me. They’re cute. We’re lowered at the fence line and my partners scatter. Zeus sends me his board. They’ll clear and meet us outside with Enforcers. “Roger, Zeus. The Club is holding the inside the best they can but a wave is coming our way.”

His chuff says he knows. I focus on the chip intel and hunt for a spot that will cover my partners. Light has me on cover for them today.

Finding a freestanding wall, I laugh when I climb it to see the guns facing out. “Circuit, is this laser?” It’s a wall for the guns. There’s no other purpose. The chain link fence and electric gate is a good 30 foot away from this wall. There is nothing between us but bushes and a couple of trees. Weird shit but a perfect concealed zone I can use.

“Checking, Pres.” I hope he’s quick with the answers.

Less than a minute goes by. “Asa has ABSZ coding them for long range laser now.” I don’t ask how it works but my partner sends me gun schematics and this Club’s parameter settings like I can read it all that quick. I get that it’s being done from the sensor security settings and can be happy with that.

A question mark and sniper show. I shake my head but it’s still there, then a picture of Cort shows. “Thanks, Light. Yeah, Boss, we’re trained for everything. My partners love the new lasers but learned to set and even take shots I set up if I’m not at the scope.”

“I used the glasses. You can answer there so you don’t have to talk while on Ops.”

Me: I laugh at the giant sounding put out by me answering. I switch to Ops in my head even though no one has taken a shot or said we’re in Ops. “I’m on a wall out in the open, Boss. If I were on a job where it mattered, I’d have used the chip.”

Cort: “They can shoot from your rifle?” The endless questions are kind of fun at times.

Me: This is one of those times so I answer with a smile.“They don’t have to, but, yeah. Now they have their own lasers and even the gun setup Juan built them. He’s got a six-shot magazine for them. They haven’t tested it but today may be the day Light or Ranger does. Max and Izzy are more tactical and won’t use it often. Mil sent spare clips just in case.”

Cort: “Huh, Amal showed me the range feed. Shadow pulled his whole paw back without moving the rifle.”

Me: I know he hears the pride. “Yeah.” I see an idiot trying to do some kind of low army crawl. I can imagine me looking like that when we got hit by the drone blast. Dragging my legs behind me isn’t a memory Iwantto remember so I shoot. “Clear.”

Cort: He laughs. “Why’d you want laser?”

Me: “The wave coming this way. There’s a nice spot for a kill zone this side of the fence with those bushes for cover. I need funnel shots pushing targets that way. Once they’re in, the laser can clear the branches.” I look through the scope and still like the section so I send it to the partners. “The partners will help and we may not need the laser but the sensor won’t take kill shots and those are our orders.”

Cort: “Falcon said lately I’m taken with the Presidents and you’re proving that as true. You got your VP yet?”

Me: “Asa is finding a way for you to pick up a phone and talk to Light. If that doesn’t work, Donny.”

Cort: He laughs. “Your partners are like Zeus. Take Light, give him Donny as a second and I’ll be there with new gear for him.”

Me: That shocks the hell out of me. “For Light or Donny?”

Cort: He laughs and I hear Mase somewhere in my head. “Light, Brother. Zeus is in a fight.”

Me: I flip my glasses down and look for the Club feeds. Fuck. “He’s done. Good job, Brother. Circuit?”

Zeus: Chuffs
