“Very easily,” Eloisa replied, laughing.

Laria kept her eyes on Eloisa and James as they followed the steps of the dance, only to see, a few moments later, that they had disappeared. When the music ended, James came back on his own, looking very smug.

“They have escaped,” he murmured in Laria’s ear.

In their bedroom, Eloisa smiled at her bridegroom as he gazed at her lovingly.

“I never thought we would ever be together like this,” Gavin murmured as he slipped his arms around her waist.

“I am so glad we are,” she replied, raising her lips for a kiss as she stepped closer to him then rubbed herself against him, obeying some instinct she could not understand. She was warm, wet, and had a sweet, pulsing ache between her thighs. She could feel the hard ridge of Gavin’s arousal against her belly and smell his scent of sandalwood and the special musk of his body that was all his own.

As Gavin felt the tender pressure of Eloisa’s lips against his and the stroking of her tongue, he realized that James had been right. He would have nothing to worry about at all; this soft, warm, loving woman in his arms was all he needed.

His shaft was hard and throbbing, but although he was desperate to be inside her, he knew she was a virgin, and he would have to handle her gently. Even more than that, he wanted her to feel loved.

“I love you,” he murmured as they drew apart. “May I show you how much?”

Eloisa’s eyes filled with tears as she stared into the beautiful eyes now looking down at her. Her heart swelled with so much love she could hardly contain it. How could she have lived without him for so long?

“Yes,” she answered, “but you must teach me what to do.”

“With pleasure,” he said, laughing softly as he began to undress her.

A moment later, they were standing before each other, both naked, and Eloisa found herself looking at something she had never seen before: a man’s body in all its glory.

When he looked at her, he shook his head in wonder. “You are even lovelier than I expected,” he said as he reached out to draw her against him.

“So are you,” she answered, although her eyes looked frightened.

“Don’t be afraid,” Gavin whispered, as he laid her tenderly on the bed. “Do you trust me?”

“Of course I do,” she replied, then gave a shaky laugh. “But I am becoming very impatient!”

He laughed, kissed her, and then, with his hands, his lips, and his love, he took her to heaven.

“I think perhaps we had better get William out of here,” James observed as he watched the little boy running in and out of the couples on the dance floor. He stood up to go to him, but at that moment, his grandfather, Laird Elliott, caught the child, and with a grim smile, dragged him from the dance floor. He leaned down to whisper in his ear. William hugged him and beamed with delight, then the two of them left, with William skipping alongside the laird.

Laria laughed. “Where are they going?” she asked.

“Most likely the stables,” James replied, “to see his new pony. He is besotted with her!”

They sat back to watch the other dancing couples for a while, then Laria yawned. She had been at the celebration long enough, and now she was becoming bored.

“You look unhappy,” James observed. He took her hand and kissed it.

“No, but we have been here a bit too long,” she replied, shrugging. “It is all becoming a bit tedious!”

“Then what would make you happy?” he asked, even though he knew the answer.

“A bit of sparring,” she replied promptly, smiling at him suggestively. “But I expect nothing less than your total surrender!”

“There is no wrestling arena here,” he pointed out. “But will the bedroom do?”

Laria sighed. “I suppose it will have to,” she answered, her eyes twinkling wickedly. “Although there are no gloves there.”
