When my orgasm finally subsides, Hudson slows his hands, his mouth pressing a kiss to me. He kisses each thigh again before he makes his way up to my stomach, each of my breasts, my chest, up my neck, until he reaches my mouth, his hands braced on either side of me.

“I didn’t realize that’s what I was missing out on,” I smile at him sleepily, my body beginning to feel heavy, satisfied and in utter bliss.

He lets out a soft chuckle. “Oh, honey, even if you’d done that before, you’d have still been missing out,” he says.

“Mmm…so cocky now.”

He tilts his head to the side, studying me. “Not cocky. Just a man who knows how to pleasure a woman.”

“I can’t argue with you there. Especially not after that.”

I place a hand on his chest and gently push him back to switch our positions. Him on the couch, me kneeling. “Avery, you don’t have to,” he whispers.

I lightly nudge the muscles of his abs with my nose and sweep my gaze up to meet his. My eyelashes heavy with lust and longing. As I slowly make my way down his torso, he lets out a ragged breath each time I place a kiss on his skin. The way my touch affects him makes my knees weaker than they already are. I like seeing him come undone like this. Come undone for me.

“You’re so busy taking care of everyone else around you. You deserve to be taken care of too,” I say against his skin. “Let me take care of you Hudson,” I add.

The further down I trail my lips the heavier his breathing becomes. I can feel his erection against my chest as I move, slowly teasing him, making him wait and prolonging his pleasure as he did mine. The length of him pulses with anticipation and without hesitating, I wrap my mouth around him, sucking him in. His head falls back against the couch with a loud sigh that encourages me to keep going.

I start moving my hand slowly, keeping my mouth still until he puts his hand on the back of my head, carefully thrusting into my mouth. I like the feel of him here; open and vulnerable. A place I never thought I would be with him. That he would ever be with me. I work him faster in my hands, moving up and down his shaft. His thrust meeting my rhythm, his groan filling the room.

“Avery,” he begs. “Please.”

“Mmmm, I like it when you beg,” I say, repeating his words from earlier.

I answer his plea and move faster until he braces his hands above him gripping the cushions and he stills. I lock eyes with him and watch him, and all I can think about at this moment is how I want to watch him come undone over and over again. I have never enjoyed this before, but with him I would do it anytime he asked if I got to watch him react like this beneath me. I cup him, apply pressure and am met with a loud grunt that makes me more determined to coax more from him. His groans match my rhythm as I stroke and lick, my other hand gently squeezing until warmth fills my mouth and I swallow it down, coaxing one last shudder from his body.

He slumps to the side and reaches for me, cupping the back of my head to draw me closer. He kisses me in desperation before motioning for me to lay next to him. I stand to grab a blanket before returning to his side.

I sink into the couch next to him, our bodies touching from head to toe and lie my head in the crook of his shoulder and his chest, my right leg swung over him. I throw the blanket over us and I fall asleep to the rhythm of his heartbeat beneath my ear.

CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE

HUDSON

Anudge at the top of my head pulls me from my sleep. It takes me a second to remember that Avery and I fell asleep on the couch last night which also means I forgot to let the dogs out before bed and the nudge I feel is most likely from Judy. She might be the most needy of the bunch, but I’m sure the rest of them are itching to go out. I’m just grateful they kept themselves out of the living room last night. It would have been awkward with five pairs of eyes looking at us.

I glance down at Avery, content in the spot she fell asleep in, snuggled close to my side. I tighten my grip on her and am reluctant to leave her warmth. I don’t think there’s any way for me to get up without waking her with the way her body is wrapped around mine though. If Judy didn’t get Bernard to join in her begging, I may have tried to ignore her, but the others are patiently waiting at the back door, Patch gently scratching the glass with a whine.

I trace a line from Avery’s wrist up her arm, my fingers landing on her cheek and my chest swells with an emotion I am not ready to feel yet. One I haven’t felt in a long time.

I am lost. Completely and utterly lost. To her. Since the day she walked into town, I haven’t been able to find my way. I’ve been traveling a path leading to the middle of nowhere. But my destination is her. It’s always been her and I was an idiot to ever think otherwise. As soon as our lips met, I knew the two week agreement was bullshit for me. It’s a fallen leaf in the wind, being whisked away and at mercy to the path the wind sets it on.

We haven’t even had sex and the best sexual experience I have ever had happened last night on this couch. I plant a kiss on the top of her head and she snuggles closer to me with a sleepy moan.

“Morning,” she mutters.

“How did you sleep?” I ask.

“Perfect.”

Goosebumps rise on her skin as I continue my path from her shoulder to her hip, skimming her abdomen. “And how are you feeling?”

She beams up at me, a lazy smile and tired eyes. She looks content. Happy. Happier than I have seen her since she came to town. “I feel…good,” she says.

“Just good?”

A small laugh escapes her. “Better than good?”
