So I nodded, saying a breathy, “Yeah.”
He leaned closer, his hand gently cupping my chin as he tilted my face up toward his. His lips brushed against mine in the next moment, soft, slow, and lingering as an instant crackle of electricity charged the moment.
And while his kiss was careful—the kind of kiss you’d expect from someone you just met—it also sparked a warm, delicious heat deep in my core that I hadn’t felt in way too long.
When he pulled away a moment later—much too soon if I was honest—it was almost in slow motion, like he wanted to linger or come back for more.
His gaze flicked from my lips to my eyes as he heldmy gaze, something unspoken passing between us as I tried to steady my breath.
Holy heck, was it suddenly hard to breathe? Was the chlorine in the water finally getting to me?
More like the hottie in the water is stealing your breath with his kisses.
But man, if I didn’t want to try that again… Kiss until I was drowning in him.
But before I could figure out a way to pull him back in for more, the sound of giddy laughter launched me back to reality.
Everyone around us started talking then, and the moment slipped away.
“Well, that was fun,” Alessi’s voice broke the spell. “But I think I’m ready to get out.”
“Yeah, me too,” Miles said. “Early morning and all.”
And when they stood to leave, Bash followed along as well.
“You wanna head inside, too?” Nora asked me as everyone grabbed their towels and rushed inside.
I glanced over at Owen, noticing that he hadn’t followed after his friends.
Was he planning to stay out here for a bit?
Because if he was, I was definitely not going anywhere yet.
“I was thinking I’d stay out here a bit longer,” I said. “It just started snowing, and I’ve always wanted to sit in a hot tub in the snow.”
Nora smiled at me, a knowing look in her eyes as she briefly glanced at Owen. “Okay, well, I’ll head inside and take a shower then, so it’ll be available when you come in.”
“Thanks.”
“Mind if I hang out here for a bit, too?” Owen asked as Nora stepped out of the water and pulled her robe around her.
“That would actually be nice,” I said, a little thrill running through me at the thought of staying out here with him alone.

“So,how many days are you and Nora staying here?” Owen asked, his voice low and warm as we settled into the silence that followed everyone else heading inside.
“We’re going back to Eden Falls on Sunday,” I said, adjusting my position slightly to face him better. The snow was still falling in lazy flakes around us, like something out of a movie, but with the hot water gently bubbling around us, I didn’t feel the cold.
“Nice,” he said. “You get to soak up the whole weekend.”
“What about you?” I asked. “Are you here the whole time, too?”
Because that would be…nice.
But he shook his head. “Just tonight. I’ll probably sleep in a little tomorrow, but I need to get back to Eden Falls for my shift at The Garden tomorrow night.”
