“Jesus.” He tossed a couple of twenties on the table, grabbed her hand and her jacket and they practically ran from Randy’s.

A light drizzle had started falling and it was a few degrees cooler than when they had entered. As soon as they were outside, Rain ran down the street. Jess followed but didn’t try to stop her. After three blocks they had gotten away from the crowds and the rain came down a bit harder. She leaned against the brick storefront of a souvenir shop that was closed for the night.

Jess stood in front of her, watching her chest rise and fall as she tried to catch her breath. Her body quivered. He stepped forward and wrapped the jean jacket round her shoulders.

“Why didn’t you tell me you were so sensitive?”

She shrugged. “It’s why I don’t like to have people in my head. I’m a blocker. Most of the time I keep anyone close from using psi, but I loved the feel of your arousal when we walked in the club. Plus Joshua told me I shouldn’t block other Psi Alliance agents. It never occurred to me that there could be a problem.”

He put one hand on the wall on either side of her head. “The dancer probably has no idea she’s giving off a seductive vibe. Well, she knows she can seduce an audience, but she doesn’t know it’s psi.”

“I’ve never wanted to have sex in public. I didn’t even care that there were people there. If we had stayed I would have ripped both of our clothes off.”

He knew she was scared, but he couldn’t help being aroused by the idea. The drizzle turned to a light shower. “Let’s get a taxi and call it a night. You can rip my clothes off in private.”

“It’s not far. Can’t we walk? I could use the fresh air.”

“It’s raining.”

“Just a little.”

“This is Louisiana, cher. A little drizzle can turn into a downpour in no time.”

“I still want to walk.”

He looked up at the starless sky and took her hand while they made their way toward his apartment. It was only a mile, but as predicted the rain strengthened and by the time they arrived they were soaked through.
