Ky wondered if they would think that if they knew he was paying ten thousand dollars for his company.
"Ky, I'd never tell anyone about your job or your past. I'm not ashamed of it, but it's not my place to bring it up. I wouldn't do that to you."
The sincerity in Carson's voice hit him hard. It was almost like a caress. "Thanks, that means a lot." He hadn't told Carson about his past really, nothing other than he'd lived on the streets and sold his body for money to survive. In time, he might tell him more, but it was hard when he really didn't want to bring up his brother.
"I wish you'd realize I really do want to be friends. I know this is about money for you, but it's not for me."
"I know, it's just hard to get used to that after so many years. I promise I'm trying."
"I know you are, and hopefully once we are away from everything it will get easier. Anyway, I guess I'll see you Wednesday. I'll be around if you want to call before that and just talk or something."
Ky smiled at the thought of talking to Carson late into the night. They'd done that at the hotel before having sex again, and he'd found the stories Carson shared with him amazing. He'd done so much already in his life. "I don't have a phone so I probably won't, but I will be looking forward to Wednesday."
"Good. I'll see you then."
"Bye." Ky hung up the phone, trying to decide if his hand was shaking because he was nervous or excited. It was a mix of both. He was scared to death to leave Bryan for so long, even though he trusted Angel and Matt completely, he still felt like he was letting Bryan down. It was also the thought of traveling. He'd never been on a plane. Hell, other than hitching a ride from Idaho to Utah, he'd never been anywhere.
It was going to be a big change, and that was good. It was what he needed in his life. He'd been stuck for so long, and Carson was giving him a chance to live a little. He would be a fool to turn him down.
With the decision made, he got up and went into the back room to let Angel and Matt know it was a go. They'd have Bryan for three weeks, and hopefully when he came home, they'd both be able to start a new life.
