"Your worst nightmare," Beau whispered.
The man fell to the ground, his eyes filled with fear as he realized he couldn't move. He tried to speak, but only a rush of air came out.
Satisfied the man was down, Beau considered his options. The pedophile had to weigh over two hundred pounds. There was no way Beau was going to get him back into the house. With a quick glance around, he saw only one house that would be able to see him, and the house was dark. He was going to have to take the chance and castrate the man in the backyard.
Feeling more confident now that he had the man down, Beau went to work. He kneeled next to the man as he pulled the knife from his pocket. "You are pure evil. I know what you've done to those kids. I'm here to make sure you never do it again."
The man stared at him, his eyes filled with fear, but unable to move or say anything.
"How does it feel to be at someone's mercy? The drug I gave you makes it so you can't move or speak. Don't worry, it won't last forever. Just long enough for me to take care of a few things." Beau cut the boxers off the man, not feeling a bit sorry when the edge of the blade nicked the man's hip.
"I bet you told the kids it wouldn't hurt, well, I won't lie to you. This is going to hurt. Probably for the rest of your life." Beau didn't even bother tying string to the man's balls or cock, instead, he lifted them with his gloved hand and sliced right through them.
The man's mouth opened in a silent scream, but Beau ignored him as he slid the catheter tubing in the man's urethra so it didn't clot, then he took the torch and cauterized the area where the cock and balls had been. It was ugly, and Beau hadn't been ready for the stench of burning flesh.
"Looks like you're going to miss your flight in the morning. Probably won't be taking that job at the school either, will you?" Beau picked up the bloody cock and balls and held them in front of the man's face. "You will never rape another child. If you so much as look at a child, I'll come back and take your eyes next time." Beau tossed the cock and balls across the yard. "Well, that does it for me. You enjoy the rest of your night, okay?"
The man just stared at him. Beau stood, aware that he should tie the man up so he couldn't wander off if the drugs wore off before the police found him, but there was absolutely nothing to tie him to and Beau had forgotten to bring zip ties. He had no choice but to hope the drugs would be strong enough.
Gathering everything he had brought with him, Beau shoved it in his pocket, then took the thumb drive and set it on the step to the back door, where the police couldn't miss it. Again, he hoped the man didn't get up in time to hide the evidence.
With a final glance at the man, Beau left the scene, checking the street for people before hurrying to his car and getting in.
He pulled his mask off, his hands shaking from the rush and fear that still flowed through him. Time wasn't on his side, not with the man not bound.
He pulled away and headed toward the lake, waiting until he was several miles away from the home before calling Carter. "It's done."
"You okay?" Carter sounded concerned.
"Yeah, he's in the backyard. I couldn't get him back in the house. Thumb drive is on the back steps. Get the cops there before he can move and destroy it."
Carter nodded. "Call me when you are at the lake."
"Okay." He disconnected the call, finally able to take a deep breath. His body still trembled, and he felt sick, but all he had to do was remember the injuries he'd seen kids come into the emergency room with and that sick feeling faded. He'd done the right thing.
Once he pulled up by the lake, he sat in the car for several minutes, just letting everything sink in. This wasn't something he could do every night. Xander, Dyson, and Kasey were amazing to be able to do this and not go crazy. The fear of getting caught alone was almost more than Beau could bear. He'd always been the one in the group with the safest job. He healed the injured. Sure, he supplied the drugs, taught them to cut, but he never really put himself at risk the way the rest of the team did. Even Becca took risks, stealing information and files from the courts.
He couldn't think about all this right now. He needed to go home, get a long, hot shower, and try and forget what he'd done. He didn't regret it, but if he kept thinking about it, it would get to him.
Climbing out of the car, he looked around, making sure he was alone. It was the one spot of the lake where there were no cameras, no campsites, no nothing. He took the items he'd used and put them in a bag, tying the end together. Then, using all his pent-up anger, he threw them as hard and as far as he could into the water.
He stared out over the lake for nearly an hour, lost in his own thoughts. So much was changing in his life. They were good changes, but it was all happening so fast he hadn't taken the time to really think about everything. He had no regrets taking the kids in. In his heart, it was meant to be. They belonged with him. As for Parson, that was still too new to know what would happen. He wanted it to work. Parson was unlike any man he'd met before.
The sound of his cell phone pulled him from his thoughts. "Hello?"
"You were supposed to call me." Carter didn't sound happy.
"Sorry, got looking out over the water and lost track of time. Everything's done. I'm okay. Was thinking about the kids and stuff." Beau didn't want Carter to worry that the sting had any effect on him.
"You sure that's it?" Carter didn't sound convinced.
"That and Parson. Just trying to sort it all out in my mind."
"Parson turning into something more than you expected?"
Beau smiled. "Yeah, at least I hope so. It's complicated."
"Isn't everything. Just go with it. You're dealing with a lot right now. If he's willing to stick around and help you through every—"
