"Hello?"
"I missed you today," Beau said softly.
Smiling, Parson stood and quietly left the room. "I miss you too."
"Then come over," Beau suggested.
"I'm bloated and stuffed full of turkey. Are you sure you'll still want me?" Parson laughed.
"I'm a doctor. I can make you feel much better." Beau sounded seductive.
The thoughts of all the things Beau could do to make him feel good went through his mind and he took a hard breath to keep his body from reacting. "I bet you could. I'm still at Mom and Dad's, but I'll leave shortly. You sure you want company?"
"Yep. Jeff is already asleep, and Lisa is on the phone with Faith. She'll head to bed soon. Come keep me company."
Parson smiled. "I might not want to leave."
"I'm hoping you won't. Neither of us work tomorrow. We can spend the day being lazy after we spend the night together playing doctor."
"Now that is an offer I can't turn down. I've never been so excited for a physical in my life." Parson leaned against the wall in the hallway. "Let me say my goodbyes and I'll be there."
"Perfect. The gate is open, just drive on back," Beau told him.
"See you in about thirty." Parson hung up before walking into where his dad was. "I think I'm going to head out."
"That Beau?" His dad smiled. "Go, have fun. I'm glad you've found someone that finally makes you smile."
Parson realized he had a huge grin on his face still. "Thanks, Dad. Will you tell Mom bye for me? She hasn't come out from her bath yet."
"No problem. She'll understand. Call us and let us know how things are going. We shouldn't have to hear about your romance in the papers."
"I will." He gave his dad a wave before rushing out to his car.
As he made his way to Beau's, he tried not to think too much about spending the whole night together. Sex seemed natural between them. What they'd already done was great. He had no doubts actual intercourse would be amazing. What was making him uneasy was that spending the night took their relationship to a new level. While he did want to date, did want to see where it went, he didn't want everything to happen instantly, but it was hard when all he wanted was to spend time with Beau. When they weren't together, he was all he could think about.
Truth was, he was feeling what Beau was. He was pretty damn sure he'd found the man he wanted a future with, but his mind wouldn't accept that as easily as his body did. He needed to go slow, be cautious, and protect his reckless heart.
He pulled into Beau's driveway, parking near the garage. Making his way around the large house, he saw little changes that made him smile. There was a kid's bike leaning against the wall, and farther out, he saw several other toys that had been left behind. It was great to see Lisa and Jeff being able to act like normal kids.
Beau had mentioned when they'd talked that counseling was hard on them. They still didn't want to open up about things, which was okay. Hopefully, they would in time. He couldn't imagine how hard it would be to live with such an abusive past. To always have those memories haunting you. He hoped they could move on and slowly put it in their past.
He rang the doorbell, wondering if he should have run home for a quick shower and to grab clothes for in the morning.
"Hey." Beau pulled the door open. "Come in."
"Happy Thanksgiving." Parson paused to give Beau a soft kiss.
"Same to you. Have a good time at your parents?" Beau shut the door and led them into the living room.
"It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. They wanted to know about you, when they'd get to meet you, but they said nothing about my job or my lack of interest in their lifestyle." Parson sat down on the couch. "How about yours?"
"Good and bad. Dad was good to the kids, but I got the usual insults and random comments about how he hates everything about me. But Mom and Beth took to the kids really well. Lisa and Mom ended up in the kitchen, baking cake and talking, while Beth and Jeff watched a movie together. Beth's coming over this weekend to take the kids out." Beau sat down beside him. "Something pretty amazing happened while we were there. Lisa was calling my mom Grandma."
"That's wonderful. She must really be comfortable with her to do that." Parson was almost as excited as Beau looked.
"That or my mother insisted that she do it and didn't give her a choice, but I don't think that was what happened. Even my mom looked happy about it."
"Soon they'll be calling you Dad."
