"Who?" Faith reached up from behind and gripped his shoulder, panic filling her voice.

"I've got everyone with me. The kids, Parson. I can't—"

"Bring them. We'll figure it out after. Just get here." Carter hung up.

"Shit." Beau tossed his phone down before glancing at Faith. "It's Bryon. Your dads are okay as far as I know. We're headed to the house now. Faith, when we get there, I need you to take Lisa and Jeff downstairs, okay?"

She glared at him.

"Beau?" Parson reached over and touched his thigh.

Beau blew out a long breath as he got off the freeway. "You're about to meet the team." He gave Parson a worried look as he pressed the gas pedal down. Like it or not, there wasn't a choice. This was life or death, and he'd risk everything for Bryon. Praying he would be able to handle whatever happened on his own, he covered Parson's hand with his and hoped for the best.

CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO

Parson didn't know what to expect, but when Beau pulled up in front of a small home in a quiet neighborhood, he was shocked. He'd expected some warehouse or office building, not something so simple and innocent looking.

As soon as the car came to a stop, Faith jumped out of the backseat and ran toward the front door.

"Faith," Beau called, then shook his head as she ignored him and rushed inside.

As Parson climbed out of the car, he glanced at Lisa and Jeff, making sure they weren't too upset. They looked confused, but not troubled.

"Lisa, I'm going to show you to the basement area. It's a huge game room. I need you and Jeff to hang out down there until I come get you. It shouldn't be too long." Beau led them all inside the house. "Parson will come check on you if it takes too long."

Lisa nodded.

"What can I do?" Parson asked.

"Nothing for now. Until they get here, I don't know what I'll need. I'll let you know." Beau gave him a nervous smile.

Parson wasn't sure if he should be happy to finally get to see this side of Beau's life, or scared that he was there, pretty much uninvited.

"You guys make yourself at home down there. The couches are comfortable if you want to sleep, Faith likes the bean bags." He hugged each child. "I've got to stitch a guy up, but once I'm done, we'll head home."

"We'll be fine." Lisa smiled as she led her brother through the door Beau had showed them.

Parson glanced around, finding two other men watching them. He shoved his hands in his pockets, nervously.

"What do you know?" Beau asked once the kids were gone.

"Xander said it was to his neck and shoulder. Bry is alert, talking, and oriented, and he's worried mostly about blood loss. That's all I know," one guy told him.

Parson stood back, figuring it was better to let them do whatever they needed to. He stood in the living room, one that could pass for any typical living room in any house. In fact, the whole house looked as if it was just someone's home. It didn't look like the headquarters of an organization like Beau had described.

"Where's Faith?" Beau asked.

"She ran up to the med room without saying a word." The other man standing there nodded to the stairs leading up.

"That girl is going to be the death of me." Beau arched his neck back and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. "Okay, I need to get ready. Be prepared, we might not be able to get him upstairs. If I have to work down here, I'll need help moving things, but I'm hoping they can carry him up." Beau glanced at Parson. "You okay?"

Parson nodded. "Do what you need to do. I'll stay out of the way unless you need me."

Beau gave him a small smile before rushing up the steps.

Parson looked around the room, uncomfortable alone with strangers.

One of the men stepped up to him. "I'm Carter, this is Trenton, and Matt's back in the computer room. This wasn't how I'd hoped to meet you, but it's a pleasure just the same."
