He broke the kiss and hugged Archer tightly, resting his head on his shoulder. "I missed you too." He closed his eyes, wishing he could stay in his arms forever and not face what he was about to have to do. He was so glad he was going to bring Angel justice, but he was also stressed and worried about how he was going to do it. As strong as he pretended to be, he was a computer guy. He didn't go out on the stings, he didn't cut people, he didn't deal with the violent side of everything. He was out of his league going in and taking Lyle down, but there was no way he was going to let anyone else do it. He needed to be the one.

"You okay?" Archer asked against his ear.

"Yeah, just tired." He pulled back and reached for the soap. "Turn around."

Archer stared at him for a moment as if he wanted to say more, but must have decided against it because he turned, showing Archer his back.

Carter trailed the soap over his skin, washing and rinsing the suds off of Archer's body. He focused on every inch of skin he could reach, the distraction calming his mind as he slid the bar over Archer's ass, then knelt down so he could do the same to his legs. He didn't raise up as he gently got Archer to turn around.

He ignored the thick cock that was inches from his face as he washed his feet, then moved up his legs, over his knees, then his thighs. He avoided his cock as he rose back up, moving to wash Archer's stomach, then his chest, the whole time keeping his gaze locked with Archer's.

With a soft kiss first, Archer took the soap from Carter's hand and started to wash him. He closed his eyes again, enjoying Archer's fingers moving over his body. There was nothing sexual about it, but his cock still strained at his touch, at the closeness.

As Archer washed his feet, Carter combed his fingers through Archer's thick hair, brushing the wet strands back from his face. Water dripped from Archer's nose, and Carter wanted to bend down and lick it off. He'd never been this comfortable with anyone since his wife died and that scared him, because the more time they were together, the more he didn't want it to end.

He found himself trying to think of ways to make this work, then he would talk himself out of it, scared to give up his current life of work, sleep, work, sleep. His addiction to work wasn't fair to Archer. Tonight proved that when he got focused on things, he forgot everything else, and Archer was someone who deserved not to be forgotten.

"Stop thinking." Archer was standing again, his mouth against Carter's jaw.

"It was about you."

"Was it? Because you didn't look happy. I hoped I made you happier than that." Archer's soapy hand wrapped around his cock, drawing it a tight fist against his own.

The heat of Archer's cock next to his sent a shiver through him. He swallowed hard. "You make me very happy, too happy sometimes." Carter rotated his hips to get some friction.

Archer gave him what he needed as he started to stroke them together. "You scared to be happy?" Archer's hand never stopped moving as his thumb grazed over the head of Carter's length.

"Maybe," Carter admitted.

"It's okay to be happy." Archer kissed across Carter's shoulder.

"It never lasts," Carter whispered, fighting against wanting to have this conversation and struggling to hold back the orgasm that was quickly building.

"We could make it last." Archer nipped at his earlobe.

"I'd hurt you." Carter gasped, his hips moving back and forth faster.

"You wouldn't hurt me." Archer's words were stained as his breathing came faster.

"I can't do this. I can't have this conversation right now." Carter groaned, his fingers digging into Archer's hips as he fought to hold his release back.

"Okay, but we are going to have it eventually." Archer's fist tightened even more. "Come for me, Carter. Let me watch you come."

That was all he needed to hear. He grunted as his head fell back and streams of hot cum shot from his body. He jerked in Archer's arms, barely able to keep his footing as his release shot through him.

Archer was right with him, gasping as his muscles tightened, his eyes closed, his lips parted, then his own thick release mixed with Carter's against his hand before the water carried it down the drain.

With both of them spent, they just held each other, letting the water wash over them as they breathed heavily in each other's arms.

The water was starting to run cold when Archer finally pulled back. "Let's put you to bed." He turned off the water before stepping out. He wrapped a towel around Carter before reaching for one for himself.

Carter smiled. "Thanks." He slowly dried off, thinking how nice it was to have someone take care of him.

As they made their way naked to the bed, Carter thought about what Archer said. They were going to have that conversation in time. They both knew it. But until Lyle was taken care of and that was all out of the way, Carter wasn't going to give it another thought. He needed his head clear, and thoughts of the future needed to wait.

When Archer's arms came around him in the darkness, pulling him tight against his chest, he closed his eyes and let all worry go. He needed to sleep. The unanswered questions would still be there when he got up.
