"I can stay with Becca and Faith?" She glanced at Becca.
"Of course, you can. Once we get to a safe house, we'll settle in while the guys work. We can watch movies, bake cookies, and have some girl fun." Becca sat down beside Faith.
"And Becca makes the best cookies. I'll even run to the store to get what she needs to make them as long as you guys promise to share."
Faith laughed. "We'll have to make a bunch. These guys eat a ton."
"I like cookies," Lenora whispered.
"Good, then the plan is for you guys to pack up everything here and get ready to move. I also want you, Becca, and Faith to wear disguises. Dress up like boys if you can. Tuck your hair up and wear a baseball cap or something. I don't want the men who had you to recognize you guys when we leave here." Bryon met Becca's gaze. "Do whatever you guys can to look different."
"I'll raid Xander's suitcase." Faith touched Lenora's arm. "He'll have stuff we can use."
Xander nodded. "Help yourself to whatever will work."
Bryon doubted much would considering Xander was bigger than all the girls put together. Still, they would work with what they had. Once they were out of the hotel and he could breathe easier, he would let them relax and bake to their heart's content. "Then let Xander and me head across the hall for a bit and update the rest of the guys on the plan. Lenora, I'm going to send Beau over to check on that tattoo on your neck to make sure it's not infected. I'm also going to have him take a picture of it because that might tell us who the men were that had you. Once we know who they are, we'll know better how to stay away from them." He didn't want to tell her that he would hunt them down and kill them all if he had the chance. "Beau is a doctor and he'll only look at your neck unless you need him to check anywhere else. Becca said you had some bruises on your arms. Do they hurt?"
"Not anymore." Lenora held out her arms so Bryon could see the fading bruises that were clearly made from a hand's tight grip.
"You'll let him look at your neck?" He wanted to give the girl as much control over things as he could, but at the same time make sure she was safe and not suffering.
"I guess." She glanced at Becca. "You'll stay?"
"Faith and I won't leave your side," Becca promised.
"Okay. He can look," Lenora told Bryon.
"Thank you. I'll send him over. Once Beau comes over, you guys change and pack. I hope to be out of here within the hour." Bryon stood and nodded to Xander. "You with me?"
Xander reached for his bottle of Coke and stood. "Faith, will you pack up our stuff in our room, please? There's some stuff in the bathroom, but we haven't unpacked the bags yet. Use whatever you find for your disguises. I'm not sure what's there."
"Got it handled." Faith nodded.
Bryon checked his phone again, glad to see confirmation that he could use the house he'd been trying to get permission to go to. It wasn't far from the Strip, but it was far enough away they wouldn't be noticed. It was also large and secure, with a huge security system that they could use. It paid to have friends in high places sometimes. He'd owe the guy big time for letting him use his home, but it was worth it if it kept his team safe. He paused to lean over and give Becca a kiss before leading Xander out of the room and across the hall where the rest of the team was waiting for information.
CHAPTER FIVE
Becca leaned back on the couch. "Did you get enough to eat?" She'd noticed the girl had only eaten half of her burger.
"Yeah, it was good, but I couldn't eat it all." Lenora looked up at Becca. "Do you want the rest?"
"Thanks, but I ate a big dinner earlier. It's okay if you can't eat it all. It was a big burger, and I bet it's not easy to eat when you're scared."
Lenora shrugged.
"I know you have to be a little scared. I mean, you don't know any of us really well yet. Strangers are always a little scary. I understand that. That's okay. I'd be scared too if I was you. I wish there was a way to make this easier on you, but I don't know how. For now, all I can do is promise you that we aren't mean like the last people you were with. We will protect you. And I know Bryon and the guys will do everything they can to find your brother so you two can be together. They should have never split you up."
"What if they took my brother somewhere else too?"
"Then we search for him. I can't make any promises other than we'll do everything we can to find him." Becca glanced up at the door opened again and Beau walked in.
"Just me." Beau held up a keycard. "I hear I need to look at someone's neck." He smiled at Lenora. "I'm Beau. I'm a doctor." He pocketed the keycard before taking a seat across from her. "I'm a pediatrician. Do you know what that means?"
"It means you're a doctor for children, right?" Lenora scooted closer to Becca, but that was the only sign she gave that she was nervous.
"That's right. I know you don't know me, but Faith and Becca both do. They'll be here the whole time I'm with you. I just have a few questions I want to ask you before I look at your neck. Is that okay?"
Lenora shrugged.
