"Good. It shouldn't. Hopefully, more people will wake up to what's going on around them. Stop thinking that it couldn't happen in their town." Becca led him inside. "Come get some food and then once you've made sure everything is okay here, we'll head home."
"Won't be soon enough." He pulled her to his side as they walked into the kitchen.
"Becca, you're my angel." Xander held up a sandwich. "How did you know I'm starving?"
"Because you're always starving." She laughed. "There's another plate in the fridge for the others when they get home. I also made brownies. Just make sure you leave some for the others." She gestured to a plate on the counter.
"Yum." Geo reached for one. "Thanks." He handed one to Tera who sat beside him, looking like she wanted to go back to sleep.
Bryon took a sandwich, but stayed right by Becca's side as everyone ate. "So what's the news?"
Trenton glanced up. "They've arrested all five men who you took down, but released the woman and guard as they investigate more. The children are with CPS, but after the news received information about CPS assisting with a child trafficking ring, the state is reevaluating all foster homes and looking into those where children with links to known offenders were placed. They aren't releasing much information about the children which is common and understandable. Thanks to the tips sent to the media, news about the police being involved is also out there and there are cries for the police chief to step down and for them to bring in someone to clean house. They are still searching for us but are convinced we've left the area. Some in the media have called us heroes, others are shocked and horrified at what we've done. With the news that Congressman Jenson was involved, it's going to distract everyone away from hunting for us for a while hopefully. They are focusing on the congressman's close contacts and friends right now."
"Dyson is considering leaking the video of Congressman Williams he found and really shaking things up," Ben informed them.
"Can we do Senate next?" Matt raised a brow.
"Right, then Hollywood. We take down the leaders and the rich who are involved and we weed out those who help them. As long as people are willing to pay for children, we'll have a problem. And until people wake up and hold people accountable, they'll keep buying children to abuse. It's an endless circle." Beau reached for a brownie.
"We did good this time guys. This brought a lot of attention to the issue. It won't be swept under the carpet easily." Bryon looked over the group in front of him. "The media is right, you're all heroes."
Xander used his finger to draw a huge S on his chest and winked at Geo. "You and Matt can be Batman and Robin."
Matt flipped him off.
Geo laughed.
Bryon grinned, keeping his arm around Becca. Out the window, he saw the other SUV pull up into the driveway. "The others are here."
"Good. Now everyone is home safe." Becca smiled.
"Where's Faith?" Matt asked.
"She went out with some friends from high school. They were doing lunch, then going to a comedy show tonight," Beau told them. "She said she'd be home after and see you then."
Xander rolled his eyes. "I can give them a comedy show a lot cheaper."
"Which is why she probably went out with her friends," Matt grinned.
The door opened and Carter walked in, dropping his bag in the living room before turning for the kitchen. "Tell me you have food."
"Of course." Becca nodded to the plate. "There's more in the fridge and brownies to go with it."
"I have to pee." Kacey ran past them.
"You're the best." Carter kissed Becca on the cheek, then reached for a sandwich. "Why does the drive home always feel longer?"
"Because it means the vacation is over." Archer slapped Carter on the ass. "Move so I can get a sandwich."
Bryon smiled, enjoying having everyone around without the worry of having to hunt anyone down. They just needed to get Tera a home and things would be perfect. Then he could focus on replanning his wedding and making Becca his wife.
"So now that we're home are you going to tell me how you guys started doing this?" Geo asked.
Everyone looked at Bryon.
Carter laughed. "Geo's not the only one who wants to know. I'm not sure anyone here but me knows the whole story."
Bryon nodded. He didn't like talking about it, but the questions would keep coming if he didn't explain. "Alright, go get comfortable in the living room and I'll tell those who want to know how it all began. It's not a pretty story, but I'll tell it."
