“Your wire did go through, right?”
“Oh, yeah. I have the money. But all the Norse mythology was ringing bells, so I also went back through the corporate trail I used to tie Delone to the settlement fund for your case. One of the intermediate entities was called Thor’s Hammer Funding … oh no. Oh, no.”
The sudden note of panic in Maisy’s voice sent a chill running along Sasha’s spine. “What is it?”
“Mjölnir.”
“What?”
“I just pieced it together. Mjölnir. It’s Thor’s hammer. Like in mythology.”
“Oh-kaaay?”
“Sasha?”
“Yeah?”
“You need to talk to Leo. Like right now.”
Sasha blinked, confused by the change in subject. She glanced at her watch. “It’s getting kind of late. I’ll call him in the morning.”
“No. Call him now. He has something he needs to tell you. Something about Landon. I think y’all are in over your heads. Actually, all of y’all are in over your heads. Cinco and Ellie included.”
“You’re freaking me out. Why don’t you just tell me what you know?”
“Please promise me you’ll call Leo. He and August can explain it better than I could.”
“August? Maisy, don’t be cute. I’ll call Connelly as soon we hang up, but please, tell me what’s going on.”
Maisy groaned. “Leo figured out that Landon had given someone access to his old program, renamed Mjölnir. As far as I know, Leo doesn’t realize that someone is Leith Delone, but he’s got this idea that he has to stop the program from being disseminated.”
“Stop it? Stop it how? Is he going to arrest it? Shoot it? You’re not making any sense.”
“Just talk to your husband, okay? Colchis is dead. Cinco is apparently a hot mess. This whole thing is spiraling out of control, and I’m worried about the unintended consequences.”
“What did you just say?”
“I said talk to Leo.”
“No, not that part. The spiraling out of control part.”
“The unintended consequences of what Leo’s trying to do could be very bad.”
“Unintended consequences,” Sasha repeated. The charcoal drawing of the large hammer destroying the world flashed in her mind. That’s what Cinco had been trying to tell them. “I need the name and address of the company in Idaho.”
Maisy hesitated. “But you’re going to call Leo first?”
“Yes, I promise.”
“Okay, then. I’ll text it to you.”
“Thanks, Maisy.”
“Of course. Whatever you’re about to do, please be careful.”
“I will.”
“And, Sasha?”
