Montoya was burning bright red. Fuck, I was embarrassed too—I had details of our first kiss in there, songs that made me think of her. Shit I wrote down because I didn’t want to forget. No one was supposed to go through it.
“Did King actually break a guy’s arm in three places?” he whispered.
Oh, fuck.
Swearing under my breath, I stuffed the notebook in my dresser and grabbed him by the shirt.
“Yeah but this is top secret information. You can’t tellanyone. June trusts me—you didn’t get that permission—fucking swear it.”
“I won’t tell anyone—I swear.”
I ushered him out of my bedroom. “Don’t look through my shit again.”
Montoya was just a kid, but I didn’t like anyone touching that notebook. It’d become important to me. There was so much of June and me between the pages.
The guys asked why I was pissed but I left the dorm, needing some space to stop from really yelling at Montoya. I had to pick up my crap from our study session anyway.
Footsteps entered the hallway, and it was too much to hope that they’d leave me alone.
“Why do you look fancy?” Elijah asked.
I held in the groan. “I’m going to the planetarium.”
“Ooh.I get it, you’re taking June.”
Denali sighed. “Sorry she’s dragging you to shit.”
I glanced back, irritated. “I asked her to go.”
“Why? You’re in the perfect setup. Getting laid, no labels, no relationship, no obligations—you’re living the dream, why would you ruin that? What more could you want?”
“Denali.” I glared. “Shut. The. Fuck. Up.”
Montoya poked his head out of my dorm. “Bear, do you want your speech?”
That fucking kid.
I shoved the last of my shit in my bag, but Elijah caught on. “Speech? You’re telling her?”
“Telling her what?” Denali said.
“The intricate secrets of making your dick whirl like a helicopter—he’s telling her he wants to have bear cubs, dumbass!”
“June doesn’t want kids until her thirties now,” I muttered.
“Oh, man.” Elijah sucked in a breath. “We’ve got to go.”
“Go? Gowhere?”
“Kid’s Toy’s going!”
“No,” Montoya replied. “I already asked, Bear said no.”
“We’ll all go!”
I shot daggers at Elijah. “It’s June and me—no one else is coming!”
The door to the stairs opened, Laki, Buttons, and Charlie coming through in gym clothes. Elijah told them to get ready for the planetarium and I snarled that they weren’t invited. Elijah spoke over me, urging them to their rooms.
