I’m pretty sure she drew blood. But I can’t remember because at that moment everything went white-hot.My body leaned into hers without even thinking. The chatter in the bar disappeared as the heat from her lips radiated through me.

I wasn’t still anymore.

My whole body woke up as I slammed her up against the wooden planks of the wall and kissed her.The world melted away.It felt like coming up for air after almost drowning.

My hands grasped her hips and lifted her off her feet, balancing her small frame between me and the wall.

I tilted my head deepening the kiss and moved a hand around the back of her head, loosening the tiny hairs around her neck.I let myself curve and push into her.She was so soft everywhere.A tight shudder rolled through me as teeth pulled on my lip again.I could taste my cherry on her tongue.I’d never look at another cherry and not think of this exact moment ever again.

I pressed my fingers into the skin of her thigh as a small groan escaped her mouth into mine.

I was only vaguely aware of hoots and whistles and a slamming door somewhere in the background. The sound sent a wave through my conscious thoughts and I paused, enough to break the momentum for only a second.I took a deep breath only millimetersfrom her lips, my fingers still laced through her hair, my forehead pressed to hers.

My eyes stayed glued to her lips, now swollen and a deep berry, as they slid up into a wicked grin.

“Follow me.”

“Where are we going?”I asked, not recognizing the husk in my own voice.

“We’re making an escape.”

She wiggled down, grabbed my hand and we burst out the back door of the bar, which looked out over the old marina. The moon lit up the water in between the boats like mercury and stars littered the sky.

“Well, that was convincing.”She cleared her throat.“Clearly you learned a thing or two from your obsession with romance movies.I think it worked.”

“What worked?

“She’s gone.”

Oh, right.Right.That’s what we were doing.

She leaned against the outside of the bar and closed her eyes. The water slapped the docks and the buzz of voices from inside were the only sounds around us.My heart was still slamming against my chest.

Then we heard it.

“What was that?!”she screamed as she jumped into my arms.

I traced the foreign sound with my eyes to a dock piling, where Mr.Crenshaw was curled up, fast asleep, snoring against the wooden post.

“He really does just sort of pop up everywhere, doesn’t he?”she asked.

“Yeah, but stay clear of him.Especially when he’s awake.”

“Oh, don’t worry, I’ve already been warned,” she whispered into my neck.

Heat was radiating from every inch of her legs wrapped around me.She slowly unwound herself as my gaze dropped to her mouth.

Screw this.

I wanted to kiss her again.I hadn’t felt this awake in years and wanted more.

I took a deep breath and locked my eyes on hers.

“Hi.”

“Hi.”She gave me that small smile that had demolished my walls.

I took a deep breath, ready to thrust my hands through her hair again as she turned her head to the side and puked all over the ground.
