I placed my hand on my still flat stomach, thrilled to know there was something growing in there. “He’s going to be so fucking pleased with himself.”
Ever since Owen’s abduction of me and Orla, we’d been celebrating the fact that we’d both survived. There had been no attempt at retaliation from Gael O’Mahony, even though he had to have known his son had died in that fire. As far as we knew, he was unaware of our involvement in Owen’s death. The Fiach Clan had also remained quiet, despite Mila being taken right from under their noses. Clearly, Seamus had kept up his end of the bargain and remained silent. I had no doubt he would call in the favor one day, and Keir and the clan would be obligated to follow through on whatever that request would be.
But for now, we were all safe, happy, and soon, there would be a new baby to dote over.
Mila grasped my hand in hers, drawing my attention back to the present. “How do you feel about it?” Worry shaded her eyes in a way I hadn’t seen before. “Are you happy?”
“I’m very happy, Mila,” I assured her. “We weren’t exactly trying to get pregnant, but we weren’t trying to stop it either. I went off birth control about six months ago.”
“So this is a good thing?” she asked, bouncing on her toes as her excitement built. I could feel it too, a palpable spark in the air.
Grayson and Sloane had their baby seven months ago, beautiful Fiadh Seren Kent. Sloane’s mother and her partner had visited for the birth and stayed with them for a month until the new parents found their new routine. I wouldn’t ever have that, as I hadn’t spoken to my mother since I found out about her involvement in our abduction. Despite my sister’s best efforts, I had no intention of reaching out to her either. She had done the unthinkable—not once, but twice. In my eyes, that was unforgiveable.
“When are you going to tell him?”
My stomach flipped with excitement. “I don’t know.”
“Tell him what?” Orla asked behind me. “And why are we standing in your bathroom?”
I turned to my baby sister, holding up the pregnancy test. Her eyes darted down to my hand before widening. She rushed forward, snatching the stick from me and pushing some of her hair behind her ear as she studied it.
She’d adapted to living with me and the clan perfectly. Finnan was still grumpy about having yet another woman living here, but there was no denying that having meals prepared for them, as well as a constantly stocked fridge and a clean house, was something everyone had grown to appreciate—even Finnan.
Orla didn’t seem to mind the work but was desperate to get herself a paying job somewhere in town so she could buy herself new clothes and books when she wanted. For now, she had to ask me for money since Finnan ruled that her staying hinged on her paying in sweat equity.
“Is that what I think it is?” she asked, giddily. “Are you pregnant?”
Shrugging, I smiled. “Guess it is.”
“Does that mean you two will stop banging like rabbits every day now?”
My sister’s room was right next to mine and Keir’s, and I hadn’t realized we’d been that loud. Seeing my face, Orla laughed.
“I’m joking. If I had a guy that looked at me like Keir does you, I’d be fucking him like crazy, too.”
As far as I knew, Orla had never had a boyfriend and was still a virgin. I winced. “I’m sorry.”
She waved away my concern. “Your hormones are going to go into overdrive soon, so I’d better get used to it.”
She was right. I’d heard from Sloane that pregnancy sex was off the charts.
“When will you tell Keir?”
“I don’t know. Maybe we can go out for dinner and I can tell him then?” I replied, putting the test down onto the marble countertop beside the sink. “At least if we’re in public, he won’t be able to victory fuck me.”
I looked at myself in the mirror, seeing my sister and friend beside me. Both women placed their hands on my shoulders and hugged me.
“This is going to be epic,” Orla whispered.
“If it’s a girl, can you name her after me? Or better yet, I can be her godmother,” Mila said.
I turned to the Bratva princess. “You want me to call her Mila?”
She preened. “Seems fitting, right? I kinda got you two together.”
“How do you figure that?” Orla shot back. “She was coming to rescue me, and Keir tagged along.”
Mila held up her index finger like she was about to make an excellent point. “You were why they were in Dublin. But Iwas the reason they realized they couldn’t live without each other.”
