Shaking my head, I left the two of them squabbling over mine and Keir’s origin story, only to draw up short when I found Keir sitting on the end of the bed. His intense gaze zeroed in on me as he rose.

I glanced over my shoulder, then back at him. “How much did you hear?”

“I followed Orla into the room, and she didn’t even notice I was there.”

I let out a breath. “So … a lot?”

He nodded, closing the distance between us. One large hand wrapped around my hip while the other splayed across the expanse of my belly. He dipped his mouth close to my ear, making an involuntary shiver travel through me. “I finally put a baby in you?” he asked, his breath warm against my neck.

I nodded, and the hand on my stomach moved lower.

“We’re going to be parents?”

Placing my hand over his, I nodded again.

He stepped back, gaze intense and body tight. Glancing over my shoulder, he barked, “Orla. Mila. Out.”

The women emerged from the bathroom, flicking smug smirks in my direction. Mila mouthed ‘victory fuck’at me, and I flipped her off because I knew she was right. Keir was going to turn into a savage when he got me naked.

As soon as the door shut, he was on me, stripping my T-shirt and yoga pants off my body. I unclipped my bra while he literally tore the panties from my body, pulled open my thighs, and slid his tongue through my pussy. My knees buckled, and I reached down to grab a fistful of his hair. Keir groaned into me, his tongue lashing against my clit. This man overwhelmed my senses when he got like this. Possessive, but only when we were in private. He kept his happy-go-lucky persona on most of the time, and only I saw behind the curtain of his self-control.

And right now, he had loosened the reins and let the monster free.

My chest was heaving as I stared down at the man ravaging between my thighs, making the most obscene noises as he ate me out. He was relentless in his pursuit of my orgasm, which barreled through me without warning, tugging me into a spiral of pleasure like I’d never known before. Was it the pregnancy that made it so good or was it the fact that I was so in love with this man?

Keir groaned, taking my release into his mouth and savoring it. His fingers were digging into my ass, the balance between pleasure and pain was oh so sweet. When I finally came down from the high, I blinked down at Keir, who grinned like the cat that got the canary.

“I’m going to fuck you nice and slow now, and when I’ve made you come twice more, I’m going to unload in your tight, pretty little cunt until my cum is dripping down your leg.” He ran his thumb over my sensitive clit, toying with it.

Holy fuck, that was hot.

Did I somehow now have a breeding kink?

He circled my clit, dragging more of my arousal on to his thumb to give me the friction I needed. My hips rocked against his hand, and he smirked at me from his position on the ground. He was still fully clothed, but the unhinged look in his eyes told me that wouldn’t last long.

His gaze held me hostage, and I wouldn’t have been able to look away even if I wanted. “And after I’ve filled you, you’re going to agree to become my wife.”

Caolan

Fifteen Years Ago

There was a new one. A new kid. A girl this time with strawberry blonde hair that hung loose down to her shoulders. She sat at the kitchen table, a small backpack leaning against the leg of her chair. I’d been here since I was four, so I didn’t remember what it was like being left here for the first time.

I walked into the kitchen, skirting round the table, and moved toward the fridge. Pulling it open, I ducked to look inside, but secretly kept my eyes on her. She kept her face tilted down, her eyes fixed on the table and the plate in front of her. Simone had made her a cheese sandwich, and I knew from experience that the bread would be just the other side of fresh and the cheese slices would be hard on the corners. Simone wasn’t the greatest cook, but she tried.

The girl looked so sad. It reminded me of another girl we’d had here for a while. Sarah had been adopted by a nice couple from Wexford about two years ago, but before that, her sadness had hung over her head like a cloud.

Unable to stand with the fridge open, I grabbed an apple and shut the door. I moved past the table, intending to return to myroom, when the girl let out a little sniffle. She dashed the back of her hand under her nose before placing it under the table.

Going into foster care was hard for the older kids. Lily had taught me that. She’d also told me a friend could help a lot when someone was going through something big at home. Indecision gnawed at me. I didn’t feel like talking, but every time I thought about leaving her here alone, my stomach twisted. Toying with the stalk of my apple, I made my choice.

“What’s your name?” I asked her, pulling out the chair opposite hers and sitting down. There were still crumbs from breakfast on the tabletop, along with a brown ring from James’s coffee.

Her head jerked up at my question, and I finally got a good look at her. She had pale green eyes that were too big for her face; they seemed almost otherworldly, like she was a fae or something. It made me wonder if she was one of the changelings that Simone would tell us stories about. Her skin was pale, and a spray of freckles decorated her nose.

She still hadn’t answered my question, so I added, “I’m Caolan.” I went to take a bite from the apple but thought better of it and offered it to her.
