“I understand why you are so attached to her!” Amill replies. “But that doesn't change the essence of the human problem. Do you trust the others too? How many of them are there?”

“There are five humans left besides my companion. All five have a clear aura and their goodwill has already proven itself. I have confidence in them. They have done everything to integrate well into our community.”

“You say they saved a sarcophagus for repair. Why take risks to find others?”

“Because their number of uses is limited. Because, in addition to these boxes, they may have other tools to recover?”

“I am not opposed to this search for a ship, but you understand that I have to discuss it with my people first.” Amill says. “I can only tell you that if this search is possible and if it can bring compensation to my people, I am not opposed to giving you my help. I will keep you informed.”

The meeting is over, but Liamm and I continue to talk. He drinks lemon balm leaves while I opt for a cup of kafae. We continue to talk about humans in general and my companion in particular.

It is well known that I did not want to find a Life Partner. Liamm laughs kindly at this turn of events. And curious, he asks me:

“What is she like? Your companion, I mean.”

“She’s wonderful, lively, sparkling, full of joy, and intelligence . . .”

“Enough! Enough!” Liamm cuts me off laughing. “What a nuisance these united males are! I was asking you physically . . . How is a human compared to an Eriane?”

“Ah, she's smaller, with more curves, and a wonderfully clear neck to put my teeth into.”

“Yes, I can see the principal” he replies. “But otherwise, nothing special?”

“You mean, besides her fiery hair? And her eyes of the palest and purest green?”

“I haven't had the pleasure of meeting your companion, but I must admit I'm curious to see that.”

Faced with Liamm's obvious interest, I frown and growl.

“She’s is Mine.”

Liamm bursts out laughing and answers me.

“I had understood it well.”

“In fact, there is another human. Her name is Eva and she is closer to the Erianes, with black hair and eyes.”

“Nixx, my friend, I look forward to meeting your human and I assure you that I will not disrespect her or you. I'm just curious to see who could have turned you like this," he adds with a wink. “And I'll add that personally, I'm not after this union link at all, I'm far too independent for that.”

“As if I had a choice!” I answer him.

Liamm shakes his head and looks dejected for me.

“Yes, I heard that you can't fight it. The Winds keep me from such an adventure, I am fine on my own!”

“May the Winds hear you!” I answer him in return, without specifying that this turn of events in my life suits me perfectly.

“By the way, I'm surprised not to see you glued to your companion when the meeting is over.”

“Sarah is a healer. This morning she was on her way to see Lokk's sister who is expecting a baby. And Eleny, Zakk's companion, let her know that other people had come to her for advice. I'm happy for her if people here trust her a little bit more as a healer.”

At the Western Bastion, she didn't say anything, but I could see her disappointment; people are turning to our usual healer rather than to her.

“So, your companion is alone in the camp and you leave her?”

“She’s not alone, but with Eleny. And I’ll be informed immediately if she needs me. And I give her some space, even though I'm itching to get to her.”

“I see. So, I take it you still have a topic to discuss with me . . . more informally?”
