I will protect you from the dangers of this world, as well as from those that do not exist.

May the stars protect our couple.

May the stars protect our love.”

“I, Yly, daughter of Zarr and Numy, recognize you as my Life Companion, beyond the Winds.

I carry you in my heart, I carry you in my body.

I will go with you, where the Winds will carry us.

I will support you in your time of need.

May the stars protect our couple.

May the stars protect our love.”

The young couple embraced each other and flew away to the cheers of the crowd.

For me, the really interesting part of the evening begins—it's time for the party! The Life Companions have already left, but they don't need us. Just each other.

And we don't need them to party.

My closest friends, Lokk and Rymm, who have returned for these special circumstances, are with me to share a flask of ignis, the drink of all celebrations. Tables have been brought out of the Complex and have been set up on the high plateau.

Many trays of fruits, vegetable dishes, and eggs, were prepared by the women. Musicians have brought out their stringed instruments and are playing happily.

Couples start to dance. It's dark now and the evening is just beginning. I put off all my political questions and worries and enjoy my dearest friend tonight.

Sarah

I wake up after a chaotic first night in this new world where we crashed. My night was interspersed with flashes of the crash, with jolts at the slightest noise; most of the time, during the low-voiced exchanges between David and Marc during their watch, then later, during those between Yohan and Yannis.

My body is tired, in large part because of the conditions of this world to which we must quickly become acclimatized, my mind is on full alert, constantly thinking about the various unforeseen events that may occur and how to deal with them without losing our skin.

Observing the sky and listening to the surrounding sounds during our first night here, we confirmed what the AI had announced; no planes in the sky, no mechanical noises.

This world seems quite primitive and lacks the modern characteristics of the advanced worlds we have already visited. We have already spotted some very small animals, both flying and crawling. Nothing aggressive yet, nor anything bigger than a pigeon. But we have only been here for a few hours; far too little to get an idea.

In the early morning, I stretch, full of aches and pains from the night spent on the ground. The night temperatures were below 15°C, according to my estimations. Not too cold, but fortunately Eva had taken survival sails, which allowed us to keep some of our body heat.

Ferdinand brings me some sterilized water and a protein bar. We'll have to figure out quickly how to feed ourselves from the resources of this world. We won't be able to last long with substitutes produced by the Proud before the crash.

Eva has already scanned a few plants on the edge of the creek where we took refuge. The analyzer has given its verdict; these plants are not toxic but have no interesting nutritional value.

We'll have to explore a little further to find new plants or even small animals. I quickly pass by Sarc-11 and notice that the regeneration light next to the opening button is still red. It is a small colored diode on the side of the sarcophagus which indicates the progress of the repair process and the possibility of reopening the sarcophagus.
