“Yes, I am aware of that. What do you want, we took everything that was out in the infirmary at the time of the ditching. To do it right, we'd need access to the Proud's stockpile. I've talked to Nixx about this, but it takes time to prepare the teams from the four Bastions to search for the wreckage and to try to access it. But certainly, priorities will need to be set for exploring the remains of the Proud. And medicine supplies are one of them.”

“When they are ready to start the search operations, I hope they will all come here. I can't wait to see for myself those apollos you told me about. If they are half as beautiful as your Nixx, that will do.”

I indeed largely described to my friend, the heads of the different Bastions, who pretended to fan herself to each of them. Of course, this conversation took place out of reach of the jealous ears of my beautiful angel.

We are interrupted by the arrival of a little boy, about four years old.

“Hi, I'm Sarah and this is Eva. What can we do for you?”

The little one looks very disturbed and his eyes are full of tears.

“Are you Sarah, the healer, can you come with me please?”

“Yes of course, I'm coming. Is anyone hurt?”

I grab my satchel and follow the little guy quickly out of the lab. He leaves the Complex and heads for the edge of the forest, where an anti-Tigger fence has been installed. On the way, I ask him some questions, but only his silent sobs answer me.

As we arrive at the gate, I stop him and say:

“If you want to go to the other side, you have to tell someone first. Look, the training camp is not far. Let's get help from them before we go through the gate, shall we?”

His sobs increase and he shakes his head fiercely. Come on, the little guy has done something stupid, maybe more than one, like going over the fence and putting someone else in danger and he doesn't want to be told off.

Let's go and see how serious the problem is, then we'll see if help is needed.

“OK, show me. But if I can't do anything on my own, I'll have to get help from one of the warriors who are training there on the plateau, I explain to him while showing him the area.”

I open the gate that secures access to the plateau and the Complex and follow the little boy whose name I still don't know.

Suddenly, he stops and raises his eyes full of tears toward me. I don't understand, I don't see anyone. A body from above suddenly falls on me, throwing me to the ground. With a powerful blow to the head, he half knocks me out.

“See who's here! The personal monstrosity of the great Nixx. I got you bitch. You're gonna pay for everything you've done. I'm gonna make you regret the day you landed on my world.”

My thoughts are fuzzy, I'm still stunned and can't get my head around it or get up. I see Kryll, holding the boy's shoulder with an iron hand.

“Where did you put my mama? You said if I went to get the human healer, you wouldn't hurt my mommy.”

“I'm not lying. I wouldn't hurt your mom. I don't even know who she is. But now that I have you both, I'm going to beat you to death. You because you're weak, whining about your mom. And you, the bitch, because since your arrival, you have ruined my life. I was sabotaging little by little the trust of our people toward Nixx, they were ready to appoint me as a leader in his place. And then you came along. You exiled me from the Bastion. You humiliated me in front of my people. You had Nurr killed, with whom I was planning the overthrow of Nixx. You even saved Nixx's life when I left him dying in this forest. But now there will be no more chances for you. When he finds you, there will be your dead body and the dying body of this child. He won't be able to use your doom machine to resurrect you. He'll have no choice but to put the boy in it. And when you're dead, he won't have long to live.”

Ah girl, only you would fall for a sick bastard like that. You can't let him hurt that kid. Not even you. It would kill Nixx. Come on, get a move on, and find a solution. Come on.

The glance always blurred, I get up and clutch his ankle, pulling on it with all my strength. He pushes me back with a violent kick in the shoulder. Alas, he still holds the child and is about to knock him out with a punch in the head.

Gathering my last strength, I get up and throw myself at him. This time is the good one. He releases the child and turns his attention back to me.

“You're in a hurry to get your correction, aren't you? Don't worry, I'll take care of you right away, since you insist.”

And a rain of blows falls on me. Out of the corner of my eye, I see the child, prostrate in a corner. He is too shocked to run away. Damn. But soon I am nothing but pain. I protect my head as best I can. I feel my bones breaking, one by one. I can hardly breathe; my mouth is filled with blood. One blow after the other, all coherent thoughts desert me. The only one still in my mind is a name;Nixx.I call him with all my soul. If I die, he will die too. I can't accept that.

I hear a dull roar as the beating abruptly stops. My attacker suddenly releases me.

“Dirty bug!” he says, full of rage.

Then nothing. Silence, gently interspersed with the child's weak sobs.

A soft and fluffy body approaches me.

A warm breath on my face.
